Am I an impulse buyer?

in #hive-10084810 days ago

...or do I spend my money ( which I have acquired through bartering during my life, which I give to my employer), exclusively for necessary things?
The questioning started the day I saw @livinguktaiwan post
in which she asked us if we buy things we don't need and will never use...

To be honest, I wondered the same thing last week when I called myself a "Centipede" in a comment because I mentioned the amount of socks I have in my closet (@mipiano, I haven't forgotten the January topic, I just haven't gotten around to taking pictures of all my socks yet 🙂 ).

And since I called myself a centipede, you're probably guessing, what else can I have on those feet besides socks?

Shoes
When I happen to be in a shoe store and a model of shoes or sneakers catches my eye, I'm sure I won't buy them until I first check the price.
But if it seems to me that the price is within normal limits (for my standard and the amount of money traded for the time since the beginning of the post), the shoes or sneakers are mine.
After shopping, they go in boxes to the closet where they wait for the first opportunity to be worn.
I currently have "only" these few pairs in my closet:

I didn't have the time, nor the need to look for unpacked shoes that I haven't worn yet, which are placed in shoe closets without boxes due to lack of space...

You get the point.
I buy more shoes than I need.
New shoes or sneakers are sitting in the closet in reserve, waiting for their chance to be worn 🙂

Sweets
I often have the opportunity to find high-quality and delicious sweets - chocolates, various types of biscuits, gift packaging - at very large discounts.

I buy them with the intention of having them as gifts, because I try as much as I can not to eat them personally, because if I were to take in the quantities I buy, I would have "smelled the flowers from below" a long time ago.
I would die from that much sugar, 100%.

But the problem is that I buy the maximum quantity that I would need, and if I happen to have a minimum of arranged visits to friends and family, you can conclude, all those sweets remain in my pantry on the shelves.

I look at the remaining chocolate Santas, like a terracotta army, standing there waiting to be eaten.

I will probably give them to my partner to make the children of her office colleagues happy...
And I will also give her these chocolates, to make her colleagues happy.

100g by 100g, a kilogram, then two...
These are amounts of chocolate that none of us really need in our homes, because we know what kind of addiction chocolate can arouse.
Such intensity, to immediately eat the whole chocolate after opening it, no just a dice or two.

A drink
I liked the Coca Cola bottle that livinguktaiwan featured in her post.
I agree with her about the experience of drinking Coca Cola from a glass bottle.
It gives a special touch.

I like to drink it from 0.25l glass bottles the most.
But it's inconvenient for me to keep a lot of small glass bottles in the refrigerator, and since you can't find liter glass bottles in my country, I buy Coca Cola in plastic.
But I also buy in cans.

Just like her, when we were on vacation in Greece, in a supermarket, we found these adorable, miniature cans of Coca Cola, Baby Coca Cola of 150 ml.

We took a six pack and brought it home. We left them in the fridge to cool down, along with a much larger can of the same manufacturer, with which we can quench our thirst.

It seems to me that if I decided on these little ones, I would have to drink a few pieces...

And so, I could certainly find a few more examples of relatively unnecessary purchases in our house, at least at the time I bought them, but that would exceed the required number of items for the #ThreeChallenges community.

This way, I only have to do a self-assessment.
Am I an impulsive shopper or not?

Almost never in my life have I reached for the products on the shelves next to the cash registers, which are set up just for that, encouraging impulse purchases.

But when I find myself among the shelves, pushing a cart in front of me, I often find goods in them that I don't need.
And that's why I avoid walking around the shops, because wherever I find myself, and I like a product (as well as the price of the same, I know how to buy it).

Whether it's a supermarket with groceries and daily necessities (which I like to go to with a ready shopping list), a shoe store or a clothing store, and especially a short-sleeved shirt 😂

Here's an example from yesterday:
I was buying a birthday present for my friend, who is celebrating today (I'm finishing writing this post and then I'm getting ready for dinner at a restaurant, to start the weekend in a relaxed atmosphere).

At the Adidas store, I was choosing a gift for him. I bought him a tracksuit top with a hood, the same model and color that I have at home, but a white tracksuit also caught my eye.

What am I going to do, I bought it.

Great price, and I know it's good quality.
And I liked her.

What do you say, I didn't make a mistake, right?

And then the question:
Am I an impulsive buyer?
I don't think I mean it that term has.
I am a Master impulsive shopper, the so-called shoppingholic maniac 😀

Only one thing matters to me. and that is not to buy something that I will never use (find a use for it), wear or give to someone as a gift.
That's why I don't worry, even though I buy more than I need, everything I buy doesn't end up in the waste, but is either eaten, drunk, used or worn until it breaks, tears, wears out.

Sort:

You're hopeless 😂

Actually, you're not! Have you heard of Sophie Kinsella? You could write a very successful male version of her books, I bet it will be a big seller!!

The army of chocolates are just shouting out "Eat me! Eat me!" How can you resist their calls!

Thanjs for sharing, now I don't feel guilty at all 😉

I'm glad that my post made you feel a little more relaxed (and that you don't think we're hopeless) 😀
For now, no one dares to share their thoughts...
Maybe it's just Sophie, you and me, alone in this world?

Everyone knows I love socks and I just cleaned out my drawer to make room for the new ones I got for Christmas! You are a collector!
Sending you an Ecency curation vote.

Dear Melinda,
thanks for your support 🫶

Since you have a full stocking drawer, check out January's collector theme.

Haha @duskobgd, I loved your story, you are an incorrigible shopaholic! All those shoes and chocolates! And Coca Cola, and...and...many more dot dot dots😅
I love the Santa 'soldiers'.
I had a friend who used to buy several colours of everything if she liked it and it was on special - shoes, tops...and more!
Happy impulse buying!

Thanks dear @lizelle

I'm glad you were amused by the results of my impulse buying 🙂

The only thing is I'm in trouble 🤣
I live in a small apartment, so the challenge is where to keep everything I buy🤔
Should I consider buying a bigger apartment?

Haha, good idea but I can just imagine the shoe collection you'll end up with😄
I run a bnb and recently had a guest who was here for 9 nights doing product promotions. He had one large suitcase filled with shoes of every kind! Outfits galore, products as well - chocolates, champagne, bottled water, and snacks. One could have thrown a massive party with all his stock. His van was filled to the brim, and he still had goods delivered here after his arrival. It was quite a sight but he was super organized!
Long story...are you buying a bigger apartment 😅

Renting out flats and apartments, you've probably seen all kinds of guests 🙂
I don't believe that I will change the apartment, maybe I will expand the storage room 😅

I've told quite a few stories about the guests. Many with idiosyncracies often turn out to be the nicest people, returning guests often become good friends. I fortunately have a big percentage of good guests, but you really see it all!

My mother worked as a maid in a hotel, so I heard all kinds of stories from her. she raised me to be clean and tidy.
That is why, wherever I stay, I am a good guest🙂
