Pulp Pub offer and Lagunitas IPA recommendation

in #hive-18771924 days ago

When I wrote here last week about looking for a Thessaloniki pub where I can drink some beer, I had no idea that two days later I would catch a cold and that after visiting the doctor I would be prescribed an antibiotic.

That cold put me off from further pub searches, but...
On the last evening of our stay in Thessaloniki, while we were passing by the Church of Saint Sophia, the purple light of a bar caught my attention.

So is it possible that the Pulp pub, which I found closed earlier, is open this evening, when I'm on a walk around the church and under antibiotic therapy?

How can I stop by a bar and drink beer, when I'm out for a walk to see the city in a larger company, which is not interested in drinking beer...
And cold...
I couldn't resist 😀
I agreed with the company to meet at the nearby square in half an hour and I stopped by the Pub for a beer, just to satisfy my soul 🙂

The beautiful chilled ambiance of the interior of the pub enticed me to come to the bar and thus avoid sitting in the crowded garden.

I took the menu and looked, they offer 200 types of beer...
On the first page, a picture book with a detailed beer brewing process and a big "Please pour me".
Without looking at the menu with the beers they have on offer, I asked the waiter for a recommendation of an IPA beer on tap.

Due to the circumstances, he recommended me a beer that he was pouring at the tap closest to the bar where I was sitting.

Lagunitas IPA beer.

Along with a glass of beer, the waiter brought me a bowl of popcorn, as well as a glass of water with a few ice cubes.
I wouldn't drink cold water even if I didn't have a problem with my throat, because I would quench my thirst with beer, and I wasn't allowed to eat salty popcorn because of an irritated throat.
I didn't want to think about how cold beer would affect it.

A beautiful glass with the image of a dog didn't sit in front of me on the bar for long.
The beautiful color of the beer and the thick foam one finger thick hinted at its excellent taste.

The first sip brought the full taste of hoppy beer, fruity notes of citrus fruits and cooling.
Only after the first sip, I picked up the menu with the offer, to take a closer look at what he recommended and what this pub has to offer...

I was surprised that in addition to several Greek beers, the waiter offered me Lagunitas beer, which I found out is a Californian craft beer :-).
What should I do, there was no time for repetition, I accepted what was offered and enjoyed it to the end.

And it's an IPA with 6.2% alcohol, 51 IBU, with the use of "C" types of hops, Cascade, Centennial and Chinook, A bit of Caramel Malt, as well as aromas of pine (all from hops) that balance the more dominant notes of citrus and caramel .

The waiter was not wrong, I had a short-term enjoyment of this IPA beer, and looking through their menu, like a "reading book for school", I promised myself that for the next visit I would study it in more detail and know how to choose a Greek craft beer. I saw one on the menu, which I drank in the hotel room, Valtinger... however, I also tried Greek kraft.

After drinking a glass of Lagunitas beer, I said goodbye to the emblems on the walls of the pub. I waved to the bartender and hurried to meet the company that was waiting for me nearby, still having the full taste of a good IPA beer on my lips and tongue.

And so, during my stay in Thessaloniki, I managed to find at least one place, by accident, and at least one beer, Lagunitas IPA, which I can present to you in this week's #BeerSaturday contest.

Cheers!
