London, UK: typical English places in the city!

in #hive-1637728 days ago

Hello people!

We return to one of the most visited cities, London, the capital of the United Kingdom, and we remember what they used to say in Eurovision: London calling. London calls us, and it catches our attention because of its many things to see and so many iconic places to visit. We will first go, in this post, to the main and most popular ones, those that many of you will have seen in images at some point.

And one of the most well-known things is the British royal family, so we head down a very British avenue towards the world-famous Buckingham Palace. There we are, facing it, on a typical English day.

Buckingham Palace

So there we are, in front of that mythical, classic and sober decorated facade, with the Union Jack flag flying high, and the gate closed of course. There is not much movement, so from a distance we appreciate the elegant architecture and the great monument in front. Also from other angles, from a pleasant wooded area and across the street, while typical cars pass by on the pavement wet from the rain, it is London.

The Big Ben

We continue our route through the magnificent monuments of the English city, and the next most relevant one, which appears in any image of the city we can think of, is that large clock on a large tower that has its own name: Big Ben. And the monument is actually bigger and taller than it seems, really.

This elegant machinery gives us the time precisely and punctually, and we watch it pass as we walk through the streets of central London, at a cloudy time of day, which is normal here.

Thames River views

And very close by, we feel the movement of the city, the traffic on bridges that cross the characteristic River Thames, with iconic elements that make it different, specifically the Ferris wheel. But we also see other distant buildings on the banks, and we think about our next destination.

The Castle, the Tower and the Bridge of London

We thus arrived at an important and unmissable point, especially at certain times. I was lucky, because when we arrived at the old castle, they were preparing to fire a salute in honour of the queen (who was still alive when I went).

I was able to observe the royal guards and other military personnel preparing for the honourary event. Some of them wore the classic uniform that is also familiar to us, while curious people gathered around the cannons.

From there the view is good, we have the Tower of London, where the famous treasures, the crown, etc. are located. And that mythical bridge, which opens and closes depending on the timetable and river traffic.

Also in the distance we can see some of the most important modern buildings on the skyline, which now contrast with the solemnity of the officers with swords and cannons.

We enjoyed the unique moment, and the views of the river and the bridge that we would later cross. It is also larger than it seems, this too.

We cross this large bridge, always so busy, so full of tourists and so photographed. We look at its great details, its construction, and the surroundings while we protect ourselves from the humid air of the river.

Surroundings

We reached the other end, where we discovered other curious elements, such as a nice sculpture of a girl and a dolphin. And there is also a strange interior area where the boats are moored, a small port surrounded by other buildings and structures, but very pleasant.

Great buildings

And we cannot help but notice the many magnificent buildings in the Baroque style, or in the English style of the 17th, 18th or 19th centuries, which are also elegant and imposing. The Winchester Cathedral and the English Parliament are the most striking and relevant. But soon we will see more amazing buildings and architecture in the city, in London.

I hope you enjoyed the walk through the most striking areas of London. We will soon see others, especially wonderful buildings, impressive architecture and much more... See you!

👍👍

A super vibrant city loaded with museums, arts, and culture. Always changing. As of lately, though, I noticed a significant drop in its "frequency." It remains a must-see capital to visit.

Exactly a vibrant and very interesting city full of places to visit, there is a special atmosphere ("despite all") always to enjoy in any visit, if we focus on museums and monuments.... you know 😉
And it must be even better to visit "the city" after some time, when all will be different, fresh and renewed.

Típico ¿no?

Feliz semana!

Oh the motherland for me. Many coolmidwestguy ancestors came from the UK, jaja. Not just there but many other European countries. The thing is I have never visited but would be cool to track my roots. The Palace, Big Ben, Cathedral and bridge would be cool to see in person rather than on TV.

Well documented Amiga and I take opportunity to wish you a good week ahead. Today is steroid Tuesday here, jaja

Jaja ya all of Europe is motherland for a lot of places. But the English and Spanish have landed just about everywhere. In America we reap the benefits of many cultures and I'm a mixed breed, jaja.
