As a Yoruba man one of the things we value so much is our name and there is a saying in my tribe that a good name is better than gold. Name is so important to my people especially the name of the family which always goes a long way and it determines a lot from the kind of people that will be in your circles to the kind of wife you are going to marry because if your blood has some stain in it like if someone was a traitor or one of your forefathers was a thief, you will have fewer people dealing with your family. That is why people in my tribe guide their names with their lives because it sells more than anything.

The first thing you will sell to anybody is your name in my tribe and why this is important is that we are constantly selling in this life, you sell yourself to your partner, you sell yourself to your friend, and so on but to my people, if you don't have a good name it is certain that the deal is 90% off because of history tag to your name and nobody will want to have anything to do with you. you won't be able to build the most important part that every salesperson must have which is to build trust because everybody will already lose trust in you which you can build with time.

You can sell it all with trust

We are all selling every day and some people know this, that is why they don't want any scandal on their name because they know it will be difficult for anybody to trust them or let alone build trust with them. Why some big companies are still making millions because of the trust that they have built in the past some of these companies have three to four products that are not as good as their main product but people still buy them based on the trust they have built with their main product. You can sell anything to anybody all you have to do is to build trust.

To build trust you must be committed to something, and let people know you with something, it is easy to describe yourself like this and also deliver on it, never disappoint, have good communication skills, and make this a way of life and with this, you are not only building your business but you are also building your name which is important and it will be easy for you to sell anything but most people getting it wrong believing they are not selling anything and that is why they struggle to anything including making friends.

Don't make that mistake

People are watching us and our lifestyle even if it doesn't seem like that, they know what we are committed to and we can't fake our product to them which is us, they know what we sell and if what we are selling is not right nobody is going to buy. Everyone is selling the quicker you realize this faster it becomes for you to build yourself, your business, and your name.

It's hard to build trust but it's easy to destroy it. I do think that it is important but I do think that eventually, people can move away because things change over time.

I wouldn't mind if my grandfather was a thief, provided there weren't any diabolical stuffs and I get to inherit healthy genes from them.

Having a good and consistent reputation can make the selling part a bit easier over time, in the sense that our reputation precedes us. Some will first do their due diligence before giving us the chance to sell to them(or not!).
