Por acá en un martes más de música donde he compartido además de este arte que tanto nos apasiona algunas de mis anécdotas referentes al tema y me gusta ya que de esa forma suelo recordar esos preciados momentos que dejan un gran sabor de aquel pasado. En esta nueva semana mi presentación de seguro le será algo aleatoria la selección musical, pero es que va muy referente a una anécdota que les voy a contar.

Here in one more Tuesday of music where I have shared in addition to this art that we are so passionate about some of my anecdotes concerning the subject and I like it because that way I usually remember those precious moments that leave a great taste of that past. In this new week my presentation will surely be somewhat random musical selection, but it is that it is very much related to an anecdote that I am going to tell you.

Hace algunos años, exactamente en el año 1998 mi hermana y yo empezábamos a entrar a la adolescencia y nuestros gustos musicales no eran muy distintos pero ambos teníamos preferencias individuales. Mi mamá en un viaje a la capital de nuestro país Venezuela, nos llama y hablando conmigo me preguntó - Edwards, ¿ese grupo que le gusta a tu hermana cómo es que se llama? - Y le contesté mencionándole los Backstreet Boys. Me dijo que el cumpleaños de Hyrani, mi hermana, se acercaba. Yo bastante celoso le comenté que ya mi cumpleaños había pasado pero que también me gustaría algún regalo. No sonó muy convencida y al final, solo nos despedimos.

Some years ago, exactly in 1998, my sister and I were beginning to enter adolescence and our musical tastes were not very different but we both had individual preferences. My mom on a trip to the capital of our country Venezuela, called us and talking to me she asked me - Edwards, what is the name of that band that your sister likes? - And I answered her by mentioning the Backstreet Boys. He told me that my sister Hyrani's birthday was coming up. I rather jealously told her that my birthday had already passed but that I would also like some presents. She didn't sound very convinced and in the end, we just said goodbye.

Algo curioso fue que mi mamá horas después también me obsequio un disco que en ese momento solo esperaba destapar y poder ver el disco de Korn específicamente "Life is Peachy" disco con el que conocí está súper banda del nu metal que sin duda alguna fueron otros que supieron marca un buen territorio mundial con su arte y la espontaneidad e imaginación de su líder Johnatan Deivis. El final fue otro, al despertar mi madre me estaba regalando un disco con clásicos de Armando Manzanero. Un compositor mexicano que luego de varios años le tomé mucho aprecio a su trabajo. Así que les compartiré una de esas canciones que me marcaron y que de hecho, he traído a la misma Hive con mi voz.

Something curious was that my mom hours later also gave me a record that at that time I was just waiting to uncover and see the album of Korn specifically “Life is Peachy” album with which I met this super nu metal band that undoubtedly were others who knew how to mark a good world territory with their art and the spontaneity and imagination of its leader Johnatan Deivis. The end was different, when I woke up my mother was giving me an album with classics by Armando Manzanero. A Mexican composer that after several years I became very fond of his work. So I will share with you one of those songs that marked me and that in fact, I have brought to the same Hive with my voice.

Un dato curioso en toda esta historia que no todo terminó así. Unos días después mi papá me decía que entendía mi frustración con el regalo de mi madre y que él discutió con ella por eso ya que él sabía muy bien lo que a mí me hubiera gustado. Me contó que luego de llegar al Hotel donde se alojaban, él salió y dejó a mi madre en compañía de amigas. Lo lindo de todo, es que fue a la tienda de disco y me compró lo que tanto añoraba tener en mi poder. Sí, Life is Peachy de Korn y no solo eso, me trajo también varios discos de Metallica, Queen y uno en particular que le gustaba mucho a él, Depeche Mode de la que me habló mucho. En fin, me sorprendió cuando le regaló una caja de zapatos ful de discos de rock y le dijo, para ser y conocer del rock, debes conocer su historia. Así que bueno, les dejaré una de las canciones que más me gustó de la banda británica Depeche Mode y con esto termino esta pequeña anécdota de mi vida con ustedes. Espero que la hayan disfrutado ja ja ja..

A curious fact in this whole story is that it didn't all end like that. A few days later my dad was telling me that he understood my frustration with my mother's gift and that he argued with her about it since he knew very well what I would have liked. He told me that after arriving at the hotel where they were staying, he went out and left my mother in the company of friends. The beauty of it all is that he went to the record store and bought me what I so longed to have in my possession. Yes, Life is Peachy by Korn and not only that, he also brought me several albums by Metallica, Queen and one in particular that he really liked, Depeche Mode, which he told me a lot about. Anyway, he surprised me when he gave him a shoebox full of rock records and told him, to be and know rock, you must know its history.
