This is another regular insect that I found near my parent's house, and I have posted this guy a few times already, but still, every time I saw this guy, I just impulsively took so many photographs of this guy. It is because I have so many admiration for the ladybug, because of its color, and pattern also some of them are so beneficial to the gardener or farmer.
Although Unfortunately, this one is not that beneficial, besides its great appearance. it is because this cute little guy is actually considered a pest by some farmers, especially in the potato farming industry.
Yes, this little guy decided to take a different route than the rest of the ladybird which is usually beneficial to the farmer and gardener by fighting off the aphids and trips that could cause problems for the farmer. This guy decided to be a pest, and eat up the soft part of the potato leaves. This can hinder the photosynthetic process in the plant, which then in the end will disrupt the yield that the farmer will get when harvesting.
As you can see below in the leaf it was resting on, this guy already munching some part of the leaf, and leaving the holes in it. In some cases, this guy can devour one single leaf by themselves just in a few days.
But this little guy has such a charm for me to admire it with its lovely color and the pattern, even them small hairs all over its body make this guy even more interesting.
