This little weevil was enjoying its time on the tip of the wild spinach leaf in the open field near my house. although this little guy looks so lovely it could bring a lot of problems to your spinach in case you plant them in your garden.
I had this guy before in my garden when some of the wild spinach somehow grew very nicely in one of my hanging garden pouches. I just let the spinach grow, which I thought was growing very healthily. Not until I saw some of these guys hanging around, then I learn that there were several bumps on the spinach stalks with holes in it. and with a little Google look-up, I learned that this weevil is the culprit behind those bumps.
Anyway, I will use the first photo below as my entry for the Photofeed contest.
Yep, this weevil is the devil for some of the herbaceous plants, especially the spinach. so when you try to plant some spinach and then you find some of this guy hanging around, you better get rid of them immediately before it ruin your plant in the garden.
Weevils are beetles belonging to the superfamily Curculionoidea, known for their elongated snouts. They are usually small – less than 6 mm (1⁄4 in) in length – and herbivorous. Approximately 97,000 species of weevils are known. . I have never know that they have that many species in the super family.
