The other thing that is still hard for me when I make any post about the insect that I photograph is to find the name of the species, and with the broad scope of the animal kingdom and classification, often times it is a little bit hard to find the exact name of the species that I managed to photograph. They somehow look alike, and it is very easy to misidentify them.
Just like this lovely insect that I found near my parent's house. A Google search gave me the Leptocorisa oratoria, the rice ear bug, is an insect from the family Alydidae, the broad-headed bugs. This species is commonly confused with Leptocorisa acuta, and other similar, related "rice bug" genera and species.
But on the second look, the one that I have here has a shorter body, and also kinda wider than the rice ear bug. I didn't disturb it when I took the photo to know if this little guy would give off an unpleasant smell when disturbed.
But I guess most of the species from this family will give off an unpleasant smell to deter the predator. Do you still find this little guy beautiful? I
I will use the first photo of this species for my entry to the macro photography contest.
