I talked in two previous topics about some of the problems I suffer from and I am trying hard to find a solution for them, which are loss of passion and overthinking, and although there is no radical solution to these problems, as you remain in constant conflict with them, you try to reduce them somewhat.
In this post, I want to talk about something else, which is Pursuit of Perfection or Perfectionism, which is also a disease that many people suffer from who suffer from obsessive-compulsive disorder and try to reach 100%, although this topic is very difficult, but it is not bad, but rather has positive and negative aspects.
One of the advantages of pursuit of perfection is that you try to have something complete and good every time, so even if you do not reach 100%, you will at least have reached 90% of what you want, which is a good thing. For example, if you want to study a specific book, if you do not finish it, you will have come close to that, unlike those who study randomly, they may only reach half of it or less.
But on the contrary, there are bad aspects, which is your feeling of frustration. Certainly, any of us has a goal that he tries to reach, and if he does not reach it, he becomes frustrated and sad. Here is the disease of pursuit of perfection because in the end it is impossible to reach 100% in everything, and the same applies to striving. You may fail and there is zero percent. When I strive for something and do not reach what I want, I become extremely frustrated. This is the disease that the more aspirations I have, the more frustrated I become.
I once read about the laws of wasted efforts and that the lion gets only 25% of what he chases, and that a small percentage of fish eggs survive, and the same applies to many things in nature that acknowledge that you will not reach 100% or even 50% in many cases, but for me, the matter is different. If I do four tasks and only one succeeds, or even 3, which in the case of the lion, I will become extremely frustrated and will make me stop working.
The Solution
The solution to this problem lies in the inner flexibility that makes you overcome things quickly. You will feel somewhat frustrated, but if you are experienced in inner flexibility, it will only take you a few minutes to continue again. I am not telling you to lower your ambitions because this is a bad thing, but you have to be more flexible in overcoming things and try to compensate for what you lost in something else, and so you continue with the matter.
