Hello everyone. My friends invited me to visit them and I gladly accepted their invitation, deciding to see this beautiful city.
Cluj is considered one of the most expensive cities in Romania, even more expensive than Bucharest. It has the most expensive housing and the highest salaries. This is because many companies in the IT sector are concentrated here, leading to high salaries and significant financial flows. Therefore the residents can afford to rent or buy expensive housing.
On Saturday at noon the streets were almost empty, but the locals said that it gets crowded in the evenings. We saw for ourselves that this was true when we went out later in the evening.
We visited the main square of the city, Piața Unirii. In the center of the square there is a statue of King Mathias. Mathias was essentially the king of Hungary, but his father was Romanian and this whole story dates back to the times when Romania was part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. The national opera house is also located here. They say that the beauty inside is as impressive as the Vienna opera, just a bit smaller.
After walking down a beautiful street, we learned that one of the buildings used to be a kindergarten. My friend went there. Then we moved to another part of the city that reminded me of Germany. It was very quiet, clean, with small streets filled with expensive cars and small houses.
Then we went to the central park. In this park there was an old casino building which, although no longer in use, still looks very beautiful and is used for various events. We heard that almost all weddings are held in this park and when we visited, there were at least five different weddings happening.
Cluj is the city in Romania where the most festivals are held. Among them are film festivals, a jazz festival and the Electric castle festival. Both Romanians and Europeans attend this festival, making Cluj one of the most tourist-friendly cities in Romania. Many events and festivals are organized at Cluj Arena and its stadium.
After touring all day we finally returned home. My friends house is on a hill outside the city and the city view is fantastic. They have a large garden where they grow many fruits and vegetables.
There is a small pond in their garden where frogs sing in the evenings. They also grow all the herbs and spices needed for cooking.
Later we prepared a delicious lunch and ate it while enjoying the view. After a bit of rest we went for an evening walk. It was exactly 9 pm and the streets we had walked during the day were now filled with people. All the restaurants were packed.
I really liked Cluj. There are many things to see and do here. It is a sunny and fun city and I definitely recommend visiting it. On the way back I stopped by an old town called Sighișoara and visited some of its tourist attractions.
Sighișoara is a rather small town and when you go up the stairs you can see all its tourist sites. I want to mention that on the way to the clock tower, you can see the whole city from there.
I love the narrow European streets with their colorful houses. Just like in Italy and France, the streets here have the same beauty.
Here is the Sighișoara Town Hall. It is a beautiful and very old building. There is a fountain in its courtyard.
We went to the central tourist sites of Sighișoara. There were old buildings, a square and many tourists.
We arrived at Turnul cu Ceas, the most famous clock tower. There were many tourists and it was quite noisy. There were also people on its balcony, but we weren't sure if we could go up.
We decided not to go up and walked around the clock tower. From here a beautiful view opens up to the old part of the city. You can see brown tiles and a white, modern café in the middle.
We continued walking around Sighișoara. We came to a large and beautiful square. Here there is a sightseeing tram, cafes and restaurants. Apart from that since Sighișoara is a very small place, there are no brand stores or shopping centers.
After strolling around the city a bit more we returned to Brașov. See you soon, friends and thank you for reading.
