When God was giving instructions to Moses on the construction of the ark, and everything that were to be in it, two things God warned the children of Israel NEVER to impersonate were the oil and the perfume. We see this in Exodus 30:22-38.
The oil, which was used for anointing signified His power, while the perfume was symbolic of His presence.
God can anoint a man, and that anointing is not just His validation upon that man, it goes beyond that, it is a system of empowering that man to fulfil the task for which he is being anointed. God never anoints any man for showoff. God never anoints any man for bragging rights. God never anoints any man to prove a point. If God ever anoints any man, there is a definite assignment that anointing is empowering the anointed to accomplish. The ultimate goal of God's anointing upon any man; beyond fulfilling purpose; is glorifying Jesus and revealing Him to the world. Using God's anointing for reasons other than this, is an abuse of God's resource, His power.
If there was one thing great men who have walked with God ever enjoyed, it was God's presence. Moses understood the relevance of God's presence, so much so that he was not ready to move an inch without the assurance of God's presence. God's presence with a man can be the difference between walking on water and sinking in it. In doubt? Ask uncle Peter. God's presence can be the difference between walking in the midst of a furnace that has been heated seven times over, and being slain by the heat. God's presence in the life of any man is the game changer, regardless your background and the size of the mountain before you. There is never a disadvantage with a man that carries God's presence.
As potent as these two sacred realities are, we have seen them being counterfeited so much so that it takes the Spirit of discernment to decipher and differentiate the fake from the original.
Dare not fake His power and His presence. One sure way of getting both is to tarry in the secret place till you be endued with the power and presence from on high. When God is with a man, it is incontrovertibly evident.
So my question in closing is, why fake what can be real?
