Self Understanding

As much as we struggle against laziness and other vices, it really is worth noting that the body isn't a machine that simply succumbs to all our desires to forward motion. There are times when we desire to take certain action, but are unable due to circumstances beyond the feeling of laziness. One particular feeling that I've become quite accustomed to recently has been the feeling of stress. It has created little room for action when am overwhelmed by it.

Initially I had thought it was my duty to fight through the stress and take action regardless. Recently though, I've realized that there is actually no point trying to be stubborn. When the body is stressed, the first thing to do is find a solution to that stress before we plan for further action. These days when am stressed out from work I freshen up and sleep as early as possible. I've found out that am much more productive when I wake up later in the early morning hours after a few hours of sleep.

Understanding is actually a great tool for measuring productivity and performance. It is one thing to be active, but another to be productive. True results come when things are done properly which can only be achieved with presence of mind and body. There has to be mastery in order to achieve the kind of results we want, or at least a clear understanding of our bodies capabilities per time. I reckon the first place to look if we aren't getting the results we want is inwards.
