Whenever I read stories of how people sacrificed their lives, fought and risked all they had all in the name of fighting for freedom, I wonder if it is worth all the sacrifices. We fight for freedom and win yet we live our lives till we die under rules and regulations.
The question of whether we are really free is not something one can just jump into answering. It's a question we need to take our time and ponder upon.
We have fundamental rights, rights that grant us the liberty to do whatsoever we please as citizens of the country according to our constitutions.
In fact, we elect leaders ourselves, we decide from within us whom we want to be our head and we crown them yet there are limitations to our entitlements.
Those same people we make leaders set laws and regulations to order our affairs with strict punishments attached to breaking any.
To be frank, we are not free. We will always be the slaves of the government in one way or the other. Of course, we have rights but those rights are just there to make life comfortable for us and to get us carried away from reality.
Rights are just there to blind us from seeing the chains that we are in. The poor man is deceived to be free but surrounded by rules and regulations monitoring his life like a monitoring spirit waiting for him to make the slightest mistake.
What hurts me so much is that those in power and the rich seem to be immune to those rules. It's as if they were made just for the lower class.
Am I saying that it is wrong to live by rules and regulations? Never! Any place that doesn't have rules and regulations is doomed. The rate of wickedness in such a place would be something beyond repairs.
I am beginning to think maybe our definition of freedom is not right, maybe freedom isn't a total right to do just anything as we thought.
People will be people, if freedom warrants the liberty to do anything, trust me, people will go extreme.
I think to be guided by rules and regulations is also freedom because they prevent us from doing things that may end up making us not to enjoy our lives the way it ought to be.
People question such rules sometimes because they are biased, they seem to be imposed only on the poor.
I tell you the truth, we are not designed to live without rules and regulations. That is why we have leaders. The aim is to help us tread the right path and for that there are laws and anywhere there is a law, there must be punishment because such laws will be broken. It is so unfortunate that most governments are now corrupt, having leaders who have deviated from the light.
Freedom without boundaries will result in bondage. We just have to take it the way it is, freedom always walks with rules and regulations. It is not totally free as it sounds.
