To use animals or not

in #hive-1538509 days ago

The first time I saw an animal operated on was during my highschool days. Although am not a science student but that particular day we all were peeping from outside the lab since it was a transparent window and wide enough. I did enjoy watching the whole process but again I was tensed because I wanted the rabbit to survive and of course it survived after the surgery was finalized and completely recovered fully.

Just two days ago I came across a post on social media where a man killed his dog to prepare as meat which he posted it and the comment session was on fire. 🤣 For those who eat dog meat saw it as nothing while others said it was disgusting. I remember reading a particular woman's comment saying if the man was to be her dad she would be scared of him cause what he did was inhuman and that he could hurt her too. Again someone was telling a story of how his friend traveled out of the country, his neighbor over there has a goat as a pet. Jokingly he was telling his neighbor he loves eating goat meat and the next day a restriction letter was handed over to him to Keep off her house.

Have not just heard of people falling in love with animals but have seen one. Animals have feelings this we all can agree about and I possibly think what they need is more love and care. We humans too are special creatures hence we are above animals all round. It would hurt more when one loses a human compared to when an animal died cause truth be told the love differs.

Although we love this animals and want to protect them but what can we do when it has to do with human lives as well. I so much know that we would opt for another if there was any but for now that science is yet to finally come up with any, animals are the best pick. This isn't fair but we don't have a choice. For example practicing meds students will need to practice on something to be certain they are doing the right thing cause hell no they can't be taught orally and be allowed into the theater room to operate on a human without any certainty and we definitely know the end point can be disastrous that's why animals life has to go for it not because we like it but because it is the only option we have. Moreover animals are the closest to man that's why.

If in the future there is a better option to test drugs, carry out one experiment and the other, I am optimistic that scientists would come up with it but for the time being this is the saddest reality we have to live with and accept.

Thank you so much.

Let's even leave medical students aside cause as an alternative, they could practice on cadavers or on humans during their training programs.

A lot of drugs and vaccines are first tested on animals to be sure of their efficacy and effects before being administered to humans. Imagine for a moment that these drugs are directly given to humans, and then they cause harm. However, we like to view it. If we are made to choose between a human or animal's life, we would choose the former. And it doesn't mean we are not empathetic towards them. It's just that we have limited alternatives.

But then cadavers are none living and some surgery requires that the patient is alive to be sure it was successful. Also how many humans will all the med students use to practice and what if it goes wrong that means a life has been wasted. 🤷

Thank you so much.

You're welcome

😊

People fall in love with animals just because of the way they behave. Using animals for practicals is just for human's sake. It was supposed not to be the best, but then humans are meant to live, and to do this, experiments have to be carried out through the use of animals.
