It's hard to believe that five months passed since this trip, but the photos are testimony for that. I wanted to post about it, but kept postponing it, till now.
It's never too late and going through these photos now, when the outside temperature is close to 0°C, made me want to go back in time and relive those moments again.
This is how the whole trip started, one nice Saturday morning, when we were invited to the mountains to take part of a very large family gathering. When I say top of the mountain, I really mean it and the can-am is testimony to that as you don't have many options, apart from this beauty and powerful 4x4s. We left the cars in the parking lot near the road and continued with the can-am.
Escaping the heat of the city is always a blessing, especially when the escape results in fresh, mountain air, coupled with beautiful nature and quiet. This was my dream for quite some time, but work always gets in the way, so this family reunion was the excuse to finally escape the madness.
Sitting on those wooden benches, looking at what nature has to offer while not thinking of anything else is priceless. It is not just relaxing, but therapeutic as well and if you don't believe me, I encourage you to try it out. This is called back to simple life and in my opinion, everyone should do it to get some balance back, recharge their batteries and start fresh.
I was sitting there, looking at the valley, looking at the pines and thinking these trees don't care about what time or what day it is. They don't care about who's prime minister, or when your utility bills are due. They don't have any worry about the world.
But is that true? No, it is not. They have their own worries, like the weather, the climate, insects harming them, bad people harming them and most of the times they can't even defend themselves or get out of harm's way.
This is something only those can appreciate who don't have it. No offense, but those who have it, find it normal to have it. Those who don't have it are longing for such a fireplace, where the food you cook or bake has a totally different taste. It tastes like "real", if you know what I mean.
This is grilled minced meat, traditional in my country and everyone loves it. You can make it at home, but you're never going to get the taste you get here.
Priceless moments, I can tell you that.
To make you drooling, these are fresh baked buns and on the next photo you will see what was served.
Lamb burger with this grilled minced meat. My initial plan was to make you drooling, but I think this has a boomerang effect as I'm drooling too :) God, I wish I could go back and relive those two days. The food was heavenly good by the way.
Watermelon after lunch? Anyone? This is the real one, not the plastic version you can buy at the supermarket :)
There's no mountain party without goulash and this traditional dish is the best made in cauldron. I was just helping here, I wasn't the chef, but it was exciting to cook for 16 people. Imagine, some of them were from another country and have never had a traditional goulash.
We had a loyal guardian, who was sitting in front of the fire the whole time, enjoying the smell of the food. He got a portion too, so no worries :)
Do you know what this thing is called? Guilty pleasure 😂 I love home baked bread and this was heavenly good. It wasn't cheap, but some things worth a lot.
After a good meal what can be better than a gin tonic, especially on a hot July day. I tried to take a nice photo, but I don't think I succeeded.
Light dinner? Is this light at all? :D Chicken, grilled cheese and two types of salad, one of which is sweet corn, my absolute favorite.
I was hoping we could go for a long walk, but was told that was a dangerous area. Unfortunately my country has a large population of bears roaming around and everywhere you go, you bump into them.
So we stayed "inside", if you can call the huge green area "inside" and played with these two beauties.
How can you resist them? Cuteness at the highest level, in my opinion.
We had a big fire at the evening, which is quite unique as you can't just make a fire anywhere these days.
Last, but not least, have you ever sit on a chair like this? I have and trust me, contrary to what you believe, it is comfortable.
I'm going to finish my post with this photo, which means a lot to me. I hope you can see the tranquility this place means.
