Politics: Good intentions not enough; right mindset & mentorship needed

in #hive-1538503 months ago

Politics as believed by many is a "dirty game" and infact, many don't want to associate with it or associate with it for many wrong reasons. Politics itself is not a bad thing as it means governance, leadership especially wherever humans are involved. However, the people involved in politics have bastardized the true ecence of it. In all human endeavors, politics is involved right from home to the community, nation, religious, academics and so on because politics involves governance, leadership in it real meaning and ecence.

It's quite unfortunate that because of wrong leadership and governance by those involved in politics, there has been alot of setbacks in our society and nation at large. For example, in Nigeria and Africa for example, few of those in national politics are there for the right reasons or motives and hence, it has been plagued with corruption, godfatherism, violence with our electoral process faulty. All these and many more contributes to the setbacks experienced in our nations and all sectors despite having all tendencies and supplies to have a good nation.

It is good to categorically state it here that politics i.e. governance/leadership is not for everyone and that it also comes in different levels. The most unfortunate thing to befell any family, society or nation is to have accidental leaders or wrongly raised leaders termed politicians because it is like a timed bomb tickling to explode. Alot of unprepared, untrained people are vying for pollitical offices and unfortunately elected by fraudulent electoral process leading to chaos and unrests in the nation. In Nigeria, Africa and some other countries, politics needs a total rehauling as the current state is abyssmal.

Good intentions are not enough to make a positive impact because many in the past had good intentions but now are found wanting fulfilling the adage that says: "If you can't beat them, you join them". True meaning of "god-fatherism" has been defeated and hence, i don't believe in it. For us to have true, sincere and effective politicians and political leaders, we need to go back to the true meaning of what politics really is and raising/nurturing politicians in this light. Politics is a platform for leadership and we should never forget that leadership is a privilege to serve others.

Having a mindset of rulership is harmful to a political leader because it can lead to the extreme of dictatorship if not well balanced with right knowledge and understanding. Also, those intending to go into politics needs to be nurtured and raised with a true knowledge of what politics is and not with the current dysfunctional system we have now. Bad leaders didn't jump down from the sky, they were part of the citizens and observed many things whether right or wrong. I believe aside from reorientation, we need to trace and validate the authenticity and genuineness of any aspiring political leader before giving them the mandate.

Personally, been a leader by nature and by training, i will take up political leadership opportunity in my nation or state as the case maybe. My approach will be different far beyond good intentions, the more reason I'm under a mentorship platform under a godly mentor and father where godly character, virtue and accountability is held in high esteem. In order not to depart from the good intentions and passion for the people, i will remain accountable to the masses and to my mentors who are my model examples who have proven overtime with impeccable dignity, loyalty and worth in leadership.

Personally, i don't see politics as do or die, hence no desperation as this is one of the major cause of evils attached to politics. The spirit of sportsmanship should always be encouraged if indeed one is going into politics with the right motives in the first place. In all, politics i.e. governance or leadership is a privilege which must be rightfully used to better the lot of a people, society or nation and not otherwise.

Good intention is enough for good leadership. Many have good intentions but along the line, they end up joining the trend of being a corrupt leader. I love your approach to handling leadership and I must commend you for this inspiring post. Your post is full of insight and facts. Well done and keep it up👍

Thanks for these valuable comments
I really appreciates it alot

Politics is not for everyone because it requires specific skills, knowledge and values that not everyone possesses. To perform effectively in this field, it is necessary to have a deep knowledge of public affairs, negotiation and leadership skills, as well as solid ethical and moral values. The lack of these qualities can lead to wrong decisions, conflicts and even corruption. Therefore, it is important that people who engage in politics do so in a responsible and ethical manner, for the benefit of society as a whole.

Your last sentence caps it all.👌
Thanks for your valuable comments and contributions sir

I agree with letting these aspiring politicians go through a system that tests their capacity. Even then, who sets the criteria for it?
It might not be a hundred percent efficient, you know.
Albeit, you made points.

True ✅
It might not be 💯 at the start, however, it is a journey to one.
Those to set it? Hmmmn, not the current set of politicians anyway, but those incoming with a renewed understanding
