Hive: An Ecosystem for All. Let's keep it that way.

in #hive-16792217 days ago

When I first discovered hives, it was tough for me to find my way. I got lost several times, and I almost gave up. It is funny how people from different countries help me find my way because I am always in their comments asking questions about how they came up with a text, lines, and design. I'm glad I met those people; if not, I wouldn't be here today.

The first reason I decided to join Hive was because I was told I would get a reward for my content. I mean, I have this idea to give, and you mean if I give this idea, I get paid for it. The answer was yes, and I was ready to give it a try. Little did I know the work I had to put in to become who I wanted to be on hives. The first shocking realization I got was the splitting of reward. My first post got around $20 worth of hives. I was so happy to have gotten $20 on my first post. I started planning on what to do with the money, but after I got the pay, some went back to the reward pool; one went to my HP, which will take weeks to get if I power down, and the other went to my liquidity wallet (HBD).

I started asking questions because I did not understand the idea around it, but after lots of questions, I got the knowledge I was seeking, and I thought to myself. This is a good idea; it will help me save, help the ecosystem that supports me, and become a better version of myself while helping others.

Should Upvote be based on powering up or down of HP?

Hive is a beautiful place where people come to add value to the ecosystem by becoming content creators. Everyone wants a reward for what they do; some people join hives because they want it to become a passive source of income for themselves without understanding what the ecosystem is all about. If I haven't gotten the knowledge on what HP is all about, why the funds are split, and its benefit, I will always power down any chance I get, but the realization of what hive is all about has kept me going with or without upvote.

I always tell newbies, "If you are doing anything on Hive, do it because you love doing it. Join a community that does things you have passion for and get your recognition in that community, add value to the community, and grow your account."

I believe if people power down their HP, it should be left to them to know why they did so, or questions can be asked as to why they did so before judgment can be passed. Powering down or up shouldn't be a yardstick to getting votes or not.

Am I in support of people always powering down?

The answer is NO!
I have powered down before and I have a good reason for that, but after I stopped the power down, I have been powering up because I want to grow my HP and become a whale like other whales so I can help more people grow and understand hive better.

I know of someone on hives whose HP kept decreasing. I reached out to him to find out why, and he explained the challenges he was going through at that moment. I was able to help with the little I could, and while he powered down, he was still writing so his current HP wouldn't decrease. After he got over the issue, he stopped the power down and was back to his feet on Hive.

Imagine he wasn't getting any votes in those hard times while he powered down and was also writing.

I know there are some people out there who are here to milk the system; this is something I kick against, but it will take a lot of time to fish these people out. It will also be hard to differentiate between the good fish and the bad ones.

Hive Ecosystem is for all and a place to invest in.

Hive is a place for everyone—the whales, the sharks, the fish, and the crabs.
You can invest your time and resources into Hive, and help Hive grow as Hive also helps you grow. You can power up a small amount of Hive daily, it will help your account grow. Note, that the hive you power up also belongs to you. You can buy hive and also power up. This way, you are also adding value to the ecosystem, investing in yourself, and helping the system reward you more.

Some people have invested their time in hive without withdrawing from their wallets, I say that is cool and it is also because they have other sources of income but if you are doing your best in hive, no one is stopping you from taking your liquid hive.

Make sure you are adding value to the ecosystem that's adding value to you. If you want to become like people who get the big vote, then be ready to sacrifice and do the things they do. Become a good author, and don't be scared because you have little HP, all good authors are rewarded for their content. Continue being you on hive and grow as the system grows.
