That's great, I can suggest you an idea, you know the stained glass technique, you can create a background that resembles a stained glass shape using different blues to make the shape of the sea.

Wow, what a great color palette, the combination gives the impression of gold. Symbolic.
Well, it's your artwork, I'm not sure if my suggestion is feasible according to your design: but if you agree, the background could be painted sky blue combined with turquoise green.

I look forward to seeing your progress in the next part.
