I had to add a bunch of time to the frees dryer to get the peas a ll fully dried yesterday. The shells did just fine but the peas themselves were being stubborn. I think it only sat a couple hours before I was up and got it opened and defrosting.
All the trays came out perfect and I got them all into a bag. I still need to put into mylar with oxy pads.
The summer squash had 4 pounds for me and I've only picked 45 pounds so far which is a far cry from the 135 pounds I had by this time last year. Since I'm not pushing for sales this is far more manageable for us.
7 cucumbers were ready and the smaller plants are starting to get a lot bigger faster.
I had my dentist appointment which was just a cleaning and nicely nothing had changed with my teeth since the last time I was in. I have fillings scheduled for a couple of weeks.
Back in the pole garden mid day I was digging potatoes again. I finished off the row I had started which gave me over 30 pounds.
Washed and drying on the deck. They ended up going to boxes and the house a bit later.
Early afternoon I hauled the cart to the gate area and hauled all the branches I had trimmed over to the area by the sheep pen. It is a bit out of the way and below the tree that will come down. I just needed a place to pile everything until I can chip or burn it.
With it so hot and dry and with the fires popping up in the region I am making sure to sweep off the roofs of the tree debris. I only got to the one for the day but it is the hardest of all the roofs. The coop sits right beneath a pair of fir trees so it always gets dumped on.
I noticed that the shade was on the pole garden so I headed back out around 5pm to dig more. As I did so I found this grub which got thrown to the chickens who were in the sheep pen nearby.
Another 30+ pounds of potatoes came from the row and I was even able to stuff a bunch of worms into the tackle case as I went. The soil is so dry that they have all moved down in the soil so finding them is not the easiest mid summer.
The baskets went to the deck but I didn't wash them yet, I will do that this morning. I ended up with 62.75 pounds for the day and over 310 pounds dug so far.
I was beat and super sore after all the digging. @stryeyz grabbed food on the way home and then I was out soaking early.
This morning is nice and cool compared to yesterday thankfully. I have to get harvests done early, dig more potatoes, try to catch the remaining chicks that didn't get eaten last night, move rocks, and then come up with dinner tonight.
