Freeze Dryer Batch 95 Finished, Plastic, PDC, Harvest, Gardens, Pitch, NHL, Tomato Plant - Tuesday

in #hive-11430812 days ago

I saw the freeze dryer was done when I got up at 5am but kicked it on for another few hours to be sure the trays were done. Once it was finished I pulled the trays and defrosted the chamber. All 5 trays came out perfect and the covers over them really helped keep everything in place. Only a few pieces were off trays in the chamber.

It's been staring at me for months so I finally hauled my ass out and got the scrap plastic all folded and stacked. Lots of left over garden plastic in not good shapes or sizes went to one pile while the semi okay stuff to another.

The plastic from the upper garden is there as well. Much f it is garbage and I really need to gather as much as possible for a dump run before winter.

PDC is on and again there were some great matches. I wish my shoulder would allow me to throw.

The greenhouse is on its last legs. The cucumbers had a bit over a dozen while a few peppers were ready. The rest of the cucs come out today and I need to pic the tomatoes to ripen in the house. We are expecting 25F tonight so I have a lot to deal with.

The pole garden is nearly ready to be closed up and I got the few wires I had run pulled and coiled.

I'm going to be removing a few of the pole rows to turn to normal rows which will give me more poles to work with around the farm. I'm just not using them like they should be.

Back on the pitch collecting I used my good scraper to work at the masses of pitch. It worked the best of the tools so far.

I have half a gallon of it so far with plenty more to get. Later afternoons are best when the pitch is warmed up otherwise it wants to chip off in dust. I have it in the SS pot so I will be able to melt it down in it.

I missed the first period of the Kraken and OF COURSE I turn it on to watch STL get 3 goals in 2 minutes to go ahead then win the game... Ugg.

The beans are toast but as I pulled them all I found the beans inside are still rather solid so I didn't toss them to the animals yet. I might try to keep the bean seeds... not sure yet. They have frozen many times now so I'm not sure...

J came out and asked if we could pot his tomato plant that he had in water sprouting roots. It had put out a nice slug of them so I found a pot and we got it in soil. He has it in his room with a small grow light on a timer.

Leftovers for dinner made the evening easy and we were out soaking way early. That helped as it got us to bed a lot sooner.

Today is going to be crunch time with 25F coming tonight. I have to get boys to school, deal with anything in the garden I want to keep, pull everything that I can, turn off irrigation and open all valves, get out the tank heaters for animal waters, have the boys harvest the grapes this afternoon, the fireplace parts will be here, the ISS is emitting SSTV and I am trying to catch an image as it passes overhead, PDC is on, and I will figure out dinner this evening.

I'm at 282 of 366 days towards my second yearly author badge.

Freeze drying fruits and veggies is where it's at!

It is super useful and tasty. My favorite things so far have been ground beef/bison and diced ham but the pineapple comes in about even to me.

Very nice picture my friend
