Labor Day, Harvests, IFS, Day Spent Building Shed Wall - Monday

in #hive-11430814 days ago

The slim harvests got picked first thing yesterday morning. I have a few things that need to get harvested today aside from the regular trio so it should be a bit better.

I had my IFS appointment mid morning I went to. Super helpful and the every 2 weeks seems to be a good schedule. The fields have been cut on the prairie in a true sign of inbound Fall.

Once back on the farm the rest of my day was spent working on the gear shed wall. The first was to level the ground for the bricks then build the footer.

I spaced the blocks every 2 feet for under the rafters and studs.

Metal is covering the whole length as a splash guard.

The bricks from the old chimney had to get dug through for good shaped and sized ones. I hauled the load back to the shed and began placing them.

It took me a good bit to get them all leveled and inline but they make a nice solid base for the footer.

One problem is the shed is leaning to the door side by a lot, like 5 inches... So I hooked up the come-along to the wall and cranked it over to more vertical walls.

R is seemingly wanting to keep growing his hair but with wrestling on the horizon he will have to figure out what he wants to do with it. @stryeyz spent time with him on the deck trying corn rows. He didn't even wince at the tugging and pulling on his hair so it may be the ticket...

I had to do some serious figuring while using the jacks to lift the building up. Between the floor jack and the bottle jack I managed to get the wall lifted so the 5 foot tall studs could fit. I also decided to put in a window from the pile of them I have.

@stryeyz put the screws in around the window.

The window makes it so I don't need nearly as much wood to cover the wall now. It will also give me a ton more light in the shed.

The boys made dinner for us all then we were out soaking in the nice fresh water.

Today is finally normal school schedule so off they go early. I have my chiro appointment which I am desperate for, will hit North 40 for their garden tool sale, have harvests to do, work on the shed more,
and continue the cleanup around the farm.

Looks like a labour day well spent. The shed is looks like it's coming together nicely too. Nicely done

Slowly but surely. It's an 80 year old shed so it takes time to bring it back to life

Wow
I thought your Chiro appointment must have ended since

I go every two weeks as I need it by then

Wow! That's a beautiful construction.
So I'm wondering if you did that in just a day ?

I got the wall studs in and the bricks in a day but it has been a long process to refurbish it

Okayyy.
