Weeds, Valve, UEFA, Weedeating, Loading Trailer and Truck, Rubber Boas, Trimming Bushes, Sore - Tuesday

It was to be hot yesterday so I was out in the garden mid morning pulling weeds while the boys unloaded the dishwasher. I got a tub full and a thick section pulled which went to the sheep and alpaca.

The dishwasher has a leak and it turns out the water inlet valve is leaking from corrosion it seems. I was able to get the part number without pulling the dishwasher out of the island so I got a new one on order which will be here today sometime. I will likely have to pull the dishwasher out to swap out the valve.

The Euros are going and we watched Austria get the win.

Then about 11:30 I got the weedeater going and began the process of clearing paths. The first was down to the tunnel and big creek.

Then I cut the grasses in the main garden around the bees and the greenhouse.

The super thick grown area of the pole garden.

Next was the path to the trail up the hill. This had gotten super overgrown and now has a respectable path through the brush once again.

The cul-de-sac needed to be cut down. I like to keep it trimmed as much as I can to eliminate possible fire dangers with randoms parking occasionally.

The last was to cut the weeds back from the footing of the house and this is the creek side which can get pretty thick. I need to keep the brush back off the house to keep paths for bugs to a minimum.

I was rooting for Denmark as they are the only Scandinavian country in the tournament but they ended up tied with Serbia in the match. I think they go on to the next round though.

IMG_20240625_134354.jpg

After the match I got started on the pile for the dump. It has grown over the years and I have finally taken the time to load it all up for a dump run. First I had to pull it all out and kind of organize it before loading it on the trailer.

IMG_20240625_143118.jpg

I had stacked much of the pile onto the trailer and in the truck and was pulling up a pile of black plastic by the bees when I found a rubber boa. It was about a foot long, light colored, and pretty thin. I got 2 pics then set it under one of the rocks of the rock wall nearby.

I moved more plastic and there was the other rubber boa. I picked it up and it was a lot bigger than the other one, darker colored, and about 18 inches long. I REALLY REALLY hope they are a mated pair.

IMG_20240625_152832.jpg

I set it at the same hole and it slithered right inside. Rubber boas are such cool snakes. They have such tiny eyes compared to other snakes. I presume the larger is the female and smaller male. I really hope they procreate like rabbits in a rapture so they can eat all the mice!

So this was the setup with the plastic from the garden piled on.

IMG_20240625_153435.jpg

I found a pile of old plastic by the brooder hut and after piling that on the trailer I called it good, any higher felt like it would be too much.

IMG_20240625_154405.jpg

I tarped both the bed and the trailer for the 3 mile drive to the transfer station that I will do today.

IMG_20240625_160218.jpg

With the pile of garbage moved I then had access to the bushes which I trimmed back a good bit.

IMG_20240625_171348.jpg

They all got drug across the farm to the sheep and alpaca who dove right in to them and munched the afternoon away.

IMG_20240625_172125.jpg

After making dinner I was at the board for a bit and stacked all 3 darts so close to the 3x 19.

IMG_20240625_190626.jpg

I put on Celebrity Deathmatch for a while. Claymation was great then and now. The show still holds up even all these years later.

IMG_20240625_200621.jpg

Got out to soak for a while and it was a lot nicer walk to and from after I had cleared the path of weeds and debris earlier in the day. My lower back was torched from all the garbage loading and the jets did help.

IMG_20240625_201306.jpg

Today I am going to the dump mid morning to empty the truck and trailer, it may rain a bit with the system pushing up from the south, as soon as the new valve delivers I will be pulling the dishwasher and swapping it out then we will load and run it, always more weeds to pull, possibly a run to the store, then I will figure out something for dinner this evening.

No matter how friendly a snake can be, I’m never going to hold it😅😅
You’re brave!

Looks like you got some clearing to do around the house. I did a bit of weeding this morning too so as to keep the snake away. I had to look at the pics more than twice to see if it's really a snake..I bet they are the friendly ones because I can never hold anything crawling like that even if it's friendly.

We don't have dangerous snakes on the farm, the only ones in the region are Rattlesnakes but they live to the west of us where it is hotter and drier. The rubber boas won't even try to bite like the gopher or gardner snakes will, though the bites don't hurt.

Oh okay.
