Hello to all Splinterlands friends!!!
I'm not very good at telling or inventing stories, even back in school, I had more than a few issues with creative writing assignments, but, to participate in this week's Community Engagement Challenge, I'll give it a shot and try my hand at narrating the Lore of one of the new Reward cards from the Rebellion edition.
For this post, I chose to imagine a brief biography of Halfling Refugee, a card that is becoming very popular among players, because it offers excellent stats for a very low Mana cost, and is one of the first to possess Debilitation, a brand-new feature in the world of Splinterlands.
But let’s dive into the heart of the story....
It wasn't easy growing up in the lands of the Great Lowlands, many of these places are almost uninhabitable, like the Eastern Plateau and the Endless Valley, often inhabited by the most ferocious and dangerous monsters, who form dangerous bands of warriors and raiders, hired by the Chaos Empire to maintain terror throughout the region.
In fact, after the Chaos Empire's conquest of much of the Great Plains, the vast farmlands that once provided food and sustenance to the mostly farming population were devastated by the troops of the mighty Silus the Rift, whose ultimate goal is to conquer all the lands of Praetoria, uniting them under his iron fist, and subjugating the populations to his will and thirst for power.
Incredibly cruel is, without a doubt, General Mantaroth, who not only delights in conquering and plundering villages but also burns them to the ground just to see the inhabitants flee in terror.
This situation has created a huge mass of refugees, many of whom are from the Halfling ethnicity, who have headed toward the city of Fireboro, hoping to find refuge and some peace.
And little Jim was one of these refugees: his filthy clothes and his childlike face often belied his great willpower and determination to overcome obstacles. Despite coming from a simple farming family, Jim had, from a young age, cultivated a passion for magic, and instead of working in the fields, he attended lessons from a strange figure in his village, Halfling Alchemist, who had begun teaching him many tricks of white magic.
Immediately, from Jim's gaze, one could see the desire for revenge he harbored against the Chaos Empire, which had killed many of his relatives and friends. For this reason, he would use all the magic at his disposal, wielding his magical staff to which the magical stone, created specifically for him by Halfling Alchemist, was affixed.
But the suffering was not yet over for poor Jim: indeed, in a duel he lost against a dark wizard in the forests of the Endless Valley, he was struck by a terrible spell that causes him to lose his strength on the battlefield after a few minutes, so Jim had better give his best in the shortest time possible and then retreat, as his endurance is not very high.

Non sono molto bravo a raccontare o inventare storie, anche ai tempi della scuola avevo più di qualche problema nei compiti di scrittura creativa, però, per partecipare al Community Engagement Challenge di questa settimana, proverò a, anch'io, a cimentarmi nel racconto del Lore di un delle nuove carte Rewards dell'edizione Rebellion.
Ho scelto, per questo post, di immaginare una breve biografia di Halfling Refugee, una carta che sta diventando molto popolare tra i giocatori, perchè offre delle ottime stats per un bassissimo costo in Mana, ed è uno dei primi a possedere una Debilitation, novità assoluta nel mondo di Splinterlands.
Ma entriamo nel vivo del racconto....
Non era stato facile crescere nelle terre delle Great Lowlands, molti di questi luoghi sono quasi inabitabili , come la Eastern Plataeu e la Endless Valley, spesso abitati dai mostri più feroci e pericolosi, che si organizzano in pericolose bande di guerrieri e predoni , assoldati dal Chaos Empire per mantenere il terrore in tutta la zona.
E infatti, dopo la conquista del Chaos Empire di gran parte delle Great Plains, i grandi campi coltivati che davano cibo e sostentamento alle popolazione prettamente contadine , erano stati devastati dalle truppe del potentissimo Silus the Rift, il cui fine ultimo è quello di conquistare tutte le terre di Praetoria, per unirle sotto il suo pungo di ferro, e soggiogare le popolazioni alla sua volontà e alla sua sete di potere.
Di incredibile crudeltà è, senza dubbio, il generale Mantaroth, che si diverte non solo a conquistare e depredare i villaggi, ma anche ad incendiarli per vedere gli abitanti che scappano in preda al terrore.
Questa situazione ha creato una massa enorme di rifugiati , molti dei quali dell'etnia degli Halfling, che si sono diretti verso la città di Fireboro, nella speranza di trovare asilo e un po' di tranquillità.
E il piccolo Jim, era un di questi rifugiati: i suoi sporchissimi vestiti e il suo viso da bambino, spesso tradivano la sua grande forza di volontà e determinazione nel superare gli ostacoli, infatti, pur provenendo da una famiglia di semplici contadini, Jim aveva , fin da piccolo, coltivato la passione per la magia, e invece di lavorare nei campi, andava a lezione da uno strano personaggio del suo villaggio, Halfling Alchemist, che aveva iniziato ad insegnargli molti dei trucchi della magia bianca.
Subito, dallo sguardo di Jim, si leggeva la voglia di vendetta che covava verso la Chaos Empire, che aveva ucciso molto dei suoi parenti e amici, e per questo avrebbe utilizzato tutta la magia in suo possesso, brandendo il suo magico bastone, a cui aveva fissato la pietra magica realizzata da Halfling Alchemist apposta per lui.
Però le sofferenze non erano finite per il povero Jim: infatti, in un duello perso contro un mago oscuro nelle foreste della Endless Valley, fu colpito da un terribile incantesimo che gli fa perdere , dopo pochi minuti, le forze sul campo di battaglia, è quindi meglio che Jim dia il meglio di sè nel più breve tempo possibile e poi corra ai ripari, perchè la sua resistenza non è molto alta.
