Prince Rupert | My Drone Survived a Bird Attack!

in #hive-18614122 days ago

You read the title—my drone survived a bird attack. It was just a usual day; I was going to take some videos and photos of Prince Rupert, and everything seemed to be going well. That is, until a bird decided to come from behind, bite one of the props, and open the battery cover. Of course, I instantly tried to move the drone, which ended up flying at a weird angle. I thought the gimbal was broken, but thankfully, I was wrong.

I couldn’t believe my eyes when I landed the drone and saw that one of the props was missing. So, for all of you wondering, the DJI Mini 2 SE can fly with one less prop!

Must be a very sharp beak to be able to clean cut it like that
These shots were ones I wanted to share in my last post, but it would have made it too long, so I’m sharing them now. Prince Rupert has the most beautiful mountains surrounding the town. Waking up to a view like this every day is amazing—especially when it’s not raining!

This is the first time that this has occurred to me and hopefully the last, i really did not want to fish the drone out.

Nice save! Doesn't sound like you had much warning with it coming from behind like that. For those noobs, the best way to avoid bird strike is to fly straight up, because birds can't, then once you get some space, fly away to safety in different direction.

Yeah, it never occurred to me before, i also was flying above water when the bird decided to attack, so it gave me a little bit of a heart attack. Will keep that in mind for next time, though.
