Spending The Holiday Smartly

Seasons greetings dear Hivers, I hope you are all enjoying the holiday period, even though I've hardly taken any break myself, the life of a fashion designer can be so stressful, working when everyone is relaxing or having fun, and resting when everyone goes back to work, trust me, I'm so looking forward to that much-needed break. one exciting though a bit or more financial draining aspect of this season is the aim to go all out, have fun and merry, being alive and healthy to see the end of another year calls for a celebration after all, some call it 'Detty December', meaning not caring about the length you go just for the sake of having fun to your fill, visiting new places, try out new stuff with friends or family, wine and dine, etc all of which costs money.

Some of us cook the best meal we've ever eaten the whole year during this period, and the thing which the ladies are most guilty of is buying or getting a new custom-made dresses, shoes, new hairdo etc which is all good, after all, a fashion designer, or hair stylist must also feed his or her family this season. I am not against anyone spending on his or herself and family to make them feel happy this end of the year, but I also believe we shouldn't go overboard in a bid to enjoy ourselves to the fullness, and then go broke in the forthcoming new year, which is a common happening for most adults, remember to cut your cloth according to your size, don't try to compete or please anybody because you don't know what their account balance is reading, some might actually be able to afford the fun they crave and still have more than enough saved for the new year, compared to some other folks who would foolishly spend their last dime just to Detty December then start complaining of how long January is.

One of the expenses I've had to cut myself this season is travelling expenses, yea, we badly want to visit Grandma because we miss her so much, but the current cost of transportation is on the high side, which is a common occurrence whenever it's the festive period, so we decided to shift the travelling to either the end of January of February, when the festivity and hike in transport cost would be lessened, there is no need to follow the crowd, we would still have as much fun no matter the period.

Also, before now, I already made sure that I don't go overboard with my budget for food and clothing, making my own dresses and that of my children helped reduced the cost, I also make sure that my family still enjoy nutritious meal, not until I cook the different colours of rice and swallow like I see some people do, like I stated, some just want to look big in people's eyes at the expense of their account balance, which is very wrong.

There is no single rule on how you can spend the festive season, just make sure to be conscious of never to go overboard to a point of having dry pockets.

It is absolutely good that one spend this holiday wisely else January won't be a easy one which a lot of people usually don't think about.

That's right, we ought to be wiser now.
