I have never lived in a rural zone, I only lived in urban regions. However, I am a guy who enjoys the tranquility of nature with less pollution of any type. I would live in a rural zone with a farm, probably like @solominer, sorry to cite you, but it is just because your blog shows that type of life and inspires a lot of other people. Living close to nature and consuming what you are producing is something that many people envy a lot. For sure there are some cons but the balance is interesting.
I lived in a big city of 6 million people and I had many problems with pollution of all types, sound, air, and visual pollution are common in big cities. In addition, the traffic jams and violence also make your life a bit more stressful. Here in Canada, I had only experience living in small cities of 110 thousand inhabitants, it is a bit better but still not rural. We still have an urban model, but still not an isolated rural area. We have one hospital in town, one Costco and a small shopping mall with probably 30 stores or less. Many other people who came to my city from big cities complained about the lack of entertainment and restaurant diversity. For example, here we don't have any Brazilian restaurants like the big steak houses with all-you-can-eat. You can only find them in Calgary which is 2h away from here.
There are rural zones around me, where people have farms or big houses that aren't very expensive compared to the ones in big urban zones. I would love to move to these types of places, however, I still depend a bit on urban zones since scientific institutes aren't found in rural zones unless I get a remote job, which is possible but still haven't found a job opportunity like that. That is another concern of smaller cities and urban zones, lack of opportunities. For example, in my current town, we have only one University, in big cities you can find sometimes 3 or more.
I love to go camping during the summer and explore the lack of structure, I feel more in contact with our world. For sure my rural farm will have at least a private bathroom and electricity which is already a big improvement. We need heating for the winter. But still, the possibility of looking at the stars is amazing. I tried yesterday to sightsee the comet that is very close to our planet, but the spot that I found here probably was still too contaminated by the city lights since I barely could see many stars.
In conclusion, for me, the quality of life in the country is much better compared to an urban space, with less pollution. Maybe many people who prefer going out will disagree since there aren't many places for group entertainment like dance clubs, restaurants and different cultural opportunities like concerts and theatre. I would miss a bit of these opportunities, but at least weighing the advantages and disadvantages I would still see a rural life much better with more healthy opportunities for me and my family.

Viver perto da natureza e consumir o que você está produzindo é algo que muitas pessoas invejam muito. Claro que há alguns contras, mas o equilíbrio é interessante.
Eu morava em uma cidade grande de 6 milhões de pessoas e tinha muitos problemas com poluição de todos os tipos, poluição sonora, atmosférica e visual são comuns em cidades grandes. Além disso, os engarrafamentos e a violência também tornam sua vida um pouco mais estressante. Aqui no Canadá, eu só tinha experiência de viver em cidades pequenas de 110 mil habitantes, é um pouco melhor, mas ainda não é rural. Ainda temos um modelo urbano, mas ainda não é uma área rural isolada. Temos um hospital na cidade, um Costco e um pequeno shopping com provavelmente 30 lojas ou menos. Muitas outras pessoas que vieram para minha cidade de cidades grandes reclamaram da falta de entretenimento e diversidade de restaurantes. Por exemplo, aqui não temos restaurantes brasileiros como as grandes churrascarias com rodízio. Você só os encontra em Calgary, que fica a 2h daqui.
Existem zonas rurais ao meu redor, onde as pessoas têm fazendas ou casas grandes que não são muito caras em comparação com as das grandes zonas urbanas. Eu adoraria me mudar para esses tipos de lugares, no entanto, ainda dependo um pouco das zonas urbanas, já que institutos científicos não são encontrados em zonas rurais, a menos que eu consiga um emprego remoto, o que é possível, mas ainda não encontrei uma oportunidade de emprego como essa. Essa é outra preocupação de cidades menores e zonas urbanas, falta de oportunidades. Por exemplo, na minha cidade atual, temos apenas uma universidade, em cidades grandes você pode encontrar às vezes 3 ou mais.
Adoro acampar durante o verão e explorar a falta de estrutura, sinto-me mais em contato com o nosso mundo. Com certeza minha fazenda rural terá pelo menos um banheiro privativo e eletricidade, o que já é uma grande melhoria. Precisamos de aquecimento para o inverno. Mas ainda assim, a possibilidade de olhar as estrelas é incrível. Ontem tentei avistar o cometa que está bem próximo do nosso planeta, mas o local que encontrei aqui provavelmente ainda estava muito contaminado pelas luzes da cidade, já que mal consegui ver muitas estrelas.
Concluindo, para mim, a qualidade de vida no campo é muito melhor em comparação com um espaço urbano, com menos poluição. Talvez muitas pessoas que preferem sair discordem, já que não há muitos lugares para entretenimento em grupo, como casas noturnas, restaurantes e diferentes oportunidades culturais, como shows e teatro. Eu perderia um pouco dessas oportunidades, mas pelo menos pesando as vantagens e desvantagens, eu ainda veria uma vida rural muito melhor, com mais oportunidades saudáveis para mim e minha família.
