Good evening to all my Hive friends, how are you? Today, I made rice for breakfast and decided to prepare a sambol in a different way by using a banana flower. I added a mixture of banana flowers to the coconut sambol that I usually make. It's not only very nutritious but also easy to prepare. In Sri Lanka, the banana flower is known as "banana mouth," and it's best to use a fresh one for this recipe. Pol Sambol is an essential dish in Sri Lanka, and even foreigners are often intrigued by it. The key ingredients for this sambol are freshly grated coconut, green chillies, red onion, lime, salt, and spices like chili and pepper. The unique twist in this recipe is the addition of finely chopped banana flower. Let’s see how to prepare it.
Required Ingredients...
🍀 1 Medium size banana flower.
🍀 About 3 cloves of garlic.
🍀 A little chopped onion.
🍀 4 Red chillies.
🍀 2 teaspoon of Lime juice.
🍀 2 Cup of coconut grated coconut.
🍀 2 Teaspoon of crushed chili powder.
🍀 Salt as needed.
🍀 1/2 teaspoon of pepper powder.
🍀 Coconut oil for frying.
The cooking process as follows.
1 Step.
First cut the banana flower finely and soak it in water mixed with a little salt. This soaking process reduces bitterness and prevents discoloration.
2 Step.
Then take a bowl and add coconut oil to it. Put it on the stove and let it heat up. After the oil heats up, add the finely chopped banana flowers and fry until golden brown.
3 Step.
Then take our Traditional Grinding Stone and add chili powder, garlic, onion, salt, curry leaves and kochi to it and grind it.
4 Step.
Then add grated coconut to it and grind it well and keep it separately.
5 Step.
Then add the fried banana flowers to the prepared coconut sambol. Add some lime juice to it and mix well.
Now that this is done, after mixing all the ingredients, taste the sambol to check the balance of flavors. The banana flower and mixed coconut sambol pairs well with rice, roti, or bread. This recipe has recently become popular in hotels across our country. Additionally, this sambol supports digestion and boosts immunity. So give it a try. I'll see you again with a new dish!
Have A nice day.
Best Regards,
Samadi Madushanki .
