New knowledge through Devotion

Devotion time is one of the best times to get insight and direction from God to go about the day activities.
I will be sharing with you this morning what I learned from Matthew Chapter 1.

Mathew chapter one outlines the genealogy of Jesus Christ and describes his miraculous birth. Verse 1-17 traces Jesus' lineage from Abraham to David, and then from David to Joseph, the husband of Mary. It highlights three sets of fourteen generations, emphasizing Jesus' fulfillment of Old Testament prophecies about the Messiah coming from the line of David.

Verses 18-25 talks about
Mary, engaged to Joseph, how she is found to be pregnant through the Holy Spirit before they come together.from the reading today I saw the faithfulness of God and how He was able to encourage
Joseph a righteous man who initially plan to divorce mary quietly to avoid public disgrace not to do so .
An angel appears to Joseph in a dream, telling him not to fear taking Mary as his wife because her child is conceived by the Holy Spirit. The angel instructs Joseph to name the child Jesus, meaning “God saves,” as he will save people from their sins.

From the reading I realized that, this event is depicted as the fulfillment of Isaiah's prophecy that a virgin will conceive and bear a son named Immanuel, meaning “God with us.”

Obedient is one of the things that stand out for me in today's readings just like Joseph. Joseph takes Mary as his wife but does not consummate the marriage until after Jesus is born.
In conclusion, l learned that, all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations, from David until the captivity in Babylon are fourteen generations, and from the captivity in Babylon until the Christ are fourteen generations. God does so much with details, we too we need to emulate from Him so we will not loss touch of many things which should be passed to the next generation.
