Hello Hivers, we are in process of making some big changes on the Hivelist Store, trying to bring more use case and value for those wanting to #spendHBD for physical or digital products. One of those big changes is purging old product listing from the store that haven't been actively selling for more than a year. At the same time we are purging products, we are going to be adding more and more products that we create and manage ourselves.
The Failed Attempt At A Multivendor Marketplace
The idea was one that we thought would be a winner... An eBay or Etsy style marketplace that focused on crypto payments vs fiat. We saw many attempts at pure peer to peer online markets like OpenBazzar come and go over the years and thought that we could give it a shot with the Hive community. But we unfortunately failed at this attempt. Really, the classifieds portion of our platform offers a better opportunity at a more decentralized, peer-to-peer market instead of our store, which is WooCommerce based offering crypto payments, so the store part is not fully Web 3, like our classifieds network is.
As far as the store is concerned, we had a few people come through with some print on demand designs, and some with some physical products that they sell, but very little if any sales occurred on many of these products. The best sellers from outside vendors has been with digital products. Many of these product listing have been sitting for years with no sales, and the owners of the stores have pretty much gone inactive, so we will be making some changes.
Hiding Old Physical Products, Not Deleting Them
Instead of deleting these old, inactive products from the store, we are going to give those vendors a chance to come back and try and promote and sell their products and just hide them from the marketplace. If the vendors of those products still have them and want to sell them, then they can reactivate them in the future.
So any existing store vendor can come back and get their store active again with some new and fresh products. If anyone wants to start a new store, they are more than welcome, but they will need to keep their products active. Anything without any sales in a year will be hidden. This will be a new policy. This protects customers from purchasing from inactive accounts.
Bringing In New Physical and Digital Products Fulfilled By Hivelist
We are going to be rebuilding our store offerings with more products designed and manufactured by us, either through our print on demand products like clothing and accessories, but also 3D printed products made right here in our facilities.
We have repaired the connection with our print on demand service so we can start listing products again for sale that can be shipped worldwide (well, pretty much worldwide with some exceptions).
Offering Our E-Commerce Website Services
Bringing our store to more of a focus for our own products, we want to bring back our offering of building e-commerce sites that can accept crypto payments for your own products or services. We build primarily using Wordpress and WooCommerce for these solutions because there are a good amount of crypto payment options including @hivepay-io. This way we are encouraging people to start their own businesses, accept crypto payments and offer awesome products and services to their customers.
