As a child, I always wanted to support my dad because I knew he struggled even though he never showed it or told us about it. My dad was always trying to make sure his children (my siblings and I) were fine. From the way he cared for us, I knew he needed the same care but I was just a child and there was little or nothing I could do. Back then I remembered I saved up some of my allowance he normally gave to us for the rainy days which I wasn’t even sure when it was going to come, Lol. All I had in mind was I want to grow up and become someone who gives value to people especially my family.
When I finally got to a certain age when I couldn’t sit around any longer, I started making hair do for people and I got paid some little pennies and just like old times I saved up some part of it and used the other part for my personal stuffs. I remember some times I’d use part of that money to prepare food at home when I know my dad doesn’t have enough to give to us and that just made me very happy that I could actually save up. Little by little my dream of becoming valuable became a thing. And for the fact that I saw myself achieving that goal, I became much interested in working harder.
Getting paid for the first time wasn’t so bad at all and I felt so good about it. I remember it took me the whole weekend to finish my first hair do for a girl of about the same age as I was. At some point I almost gave up because it was taking too long but then I persisted and that was how I made my first hair do for a pay! I got about $0.02 but it was huge for me then because I was only 10 years old then. And ever since that first pay, I got better and better because I started making hair do for more children and I got paid for it.
Though it felt hard to make money, but the fact that I made money was just a driving force for me to just keep going and making sure to become better by the day. Although my first pay was little, I was able to find motivation from it and also get more people to trust me with their hair do since they already saw what I was capable of. Luckily for me, I didn’t pay a dime to learn or acquire the skill of making hair do for people, I was just blessed with it.
From my first working experience, I got to learn that no matter how strenuous a job might be, as long as there is a why behind it, there will always be a driving force to keep us going.
This is my response to the indiaunited prompt on ”FIRST MONEY MAKING EXPERIENCE”.
