THRIVING IN A CHANGING JOB MARKET

in #hive-1538509 days ago

It’s just funny how the thought of AI keeps scaring a lot of us and I can understand why that is but then, it feels limiting thinking that artificial intelligence will take your place or something. Remember when they say knowledge is power? Do you know one other interesting fact? It is that, Human Resources is even more powerful. Why? Because having Human Resources will give you even more opportunity to having more knowledge and that means you get more power.

It is true that since the invention of artificial intelligence, a lot of courses studied have become even more irrelevant in the market space and for those affected, it is really scary. It will definitely be heart breaking to wake up one beautiful day and be asked to resign because your services are no longer needed. But then, the truth is, even without artificial intelligence, we have always come to understand that the job is mostly given to those who merit it on a normal circumstance but then, with the right connections, you can even secure that job when you don’t even meet some qualifications.

When I gained admission to study the course I’m doing now, a lot of persons said quite a lot of things but the conclusion of what they said was, my course wasn’t the one that would earn me a good job when I’m done. Do you know what I did? I always scoff at it, why? Because I know that the knowledge I’m getting from studying that course is something that will come in handy in so many ways. Personally, I always enjoy and appreciate learning, not necessarily because I want to benefit something from it but then because I always believe that, the first step to getting a good paycheck is learning.

There are quite a few courses in my country that even before the invention of artificial intelligence people have struggled or have never been able to make a living off it. Basically, I would rather say, that due to the high demand of some courses, some persons have tend to find other courses as not-so-relevant and that is not true at all. I believe that, as long as there are courses available, it means it will come in handy one way or another, you just have to find a way.

But basically, some courses do better because they follow the rules of demand and supply. When it comes to our health and safety, any course revolving around it will definitely do well because it is something most people are interested in and can pay almost anything for. And besides that, for some of us that are not lucky enough to get into some of these professional courses, that doesn’t mean we have no relevance but then, you can choose to think so because that might also be true.

But then, here are some tips to guide you if you are part of the category that thinks or believes that they studied or are studying an irrelevant course in school and their services are not needed.

  • The first thing you have to know is, no knowledge is lost. It might seem like whatever you are learning right now is of no importance but I assure you, one day you will be happy you learned it. Always learn to appreciate anything you are learning and as much as you can, make sure to learn it to the best of your ability.

  • Always be open to learning new skills and also improving on what you’ve already learnt. Most times, the mistake we make is, the moment we find a course irrelevant, we hate putting in the effort because after all, that wasn’t what we wanted. When life gives you lemons, you should learn to make lemonades out of it, I mean you have to or else you will have so many regrets with time.

  • Don’t blame artificial intelligence for your lost job, why? Because there are other people out there using that same artificial intelligence to make themselves do better at what they do and I really don’t know why that isn’t you or me. And besides that, even if you don’t want to learn how artificial intelligence works, you can always learn to find a way to do things in a way that people will appreciate it. Just become useful and people will need your services.

  • The most important tip, always connect with people. Make sure you are not trying to do it all alone, that won’t work well in a long run. No matter the career path you find yourself, one thing that is always consistent is people. If you think your career choice is nothing, check around you, most times it’s because you don’t have enough people around you. Try to connect with people and you will start seeing some really good changes.

Thank you for reading through, do have a nice day ahead ❤️.

Thank you more for stopping by and leaving your beautiful contribution 🥰

The job market has become fluid, not stable like it used to be 20 years ago. Now we have to have at least a basic knowledge of everything, especially digital things.
It's not a threat as long as anyone wants to accommodate change and learn continuously. Like you said, no knowledge is a waste.
Enjoyed your writing.

That’s right, we are in a age where we don’t have choice but to be useful or else we will feel left out or neglected.

It’s a pleasure having stop by, thanks for the beautiful contribution ☺️

I sometimes feel worried thinking how we would cope when we get much elder. We need to keep our brains fresh and younger than our previous generation. Otherwise, things would be difficult for us.

It’s natural to feel that way sometimes as it spur you to do what is needed.

😍✅️hope I love this blog

Thank you 🤭

Thank you 🥰

Rather than loosing your job to AI, I believe rather in enslaving AI for your jobs😂😂

And you can only do this when you've made yourself indispensable and open to learning.

For instance, do you know I can get a quick review of a topic I want to present on from AI because I already have the background knowledge of everything and I already made people believe they could entrust such presentation to me... That's me harnessing AI rather than it taking my job and many more

We are more powerful than AI, we just need to up our game
