I still remembered the days when I was a young girl, I loved visiting my grandmother's place as she is an amazing cook. Anything that she cook is always so delicious that everyone polishes up the bowls and plates used to serve the food.
However, I recalled one particular time which something she cooked made me actually doubt whether it is tasty as her usual standard. That day, when I arrived, I went directly to the kitchen and check out what she cooked. To my horror, it was a pot filled with black stuff and totally not appealing and I quickly stepped out of the kitchen. When dinner is over and that black stuff was served, everyone was so happy and started gobbling up everything, but the bowl in front of me was left untouched.
My grandmother saw that and asked me what happened. I replied, "Grandma, why does this look so black and sticky, is it really that nice?"
She smiled and replied, "My dear, this is Pulut Hitam, black glutinous rice. While it might look sticky, it is sticky but tasty. Give it a try, I am sure you'll like it."
I took up the soup and have a small sip, the taste was heavenly. And like my other family members, I gobbled up my bowl of Pulut Hitam as well. Lesson learnt, trust in Grandmother's culinary skills always.
