The Alpine Larch (Larix lyallii) is native to Canada and the Northern United States and is unique in that it is a deciduous coniferous tree. Meaning that it is a pine tree but unlike most pine trees, which keep their needles and stay green year round, it turns a magnificent golden colour and drops its needles each Fall. It makes for some stunning photography.
