Magandang buhay!
So you think you can tell... heaven from hell... blue skies from pain... 🎵🎸🎵🎸🎵
I'm humming the tune this early morning because Mom is wide awake like me (writing this just after midnight). We barely had a shut eye since yesterday evening due to certain preparations needed for her procedures this Tuesday morning. Surprisingly, she was more upbeat than the previous nights so the tasks her physicians asked us to perform (emptying her stomach and such) seemed easier.
We are laughing a lot (especially when she farts, lol). We even had music in the background which at first, made Mother think we were at home and the boys were playing guitars outside. Yeah, sometimes she forgets where she is.
But the playlist was from a musical quartet called 40 Fingers which I was playing at low volume on my computer.
The band first came onto my radar through their Guitar Rhapsody MV and I was impressed with their rearrangements and fingerpicking skills prompting me to play more of their hits. We enjoyed their rendition of Eric Clapton's Tears in Heaven, Abba's Mamma Mia, the Eagles' Hotel California, etcetera.
Because I like their music, I'm highlighting them today for my participation in the Three Tune Tuesday initiative by Ablaze.
And here are my picks, the first one is their beautiful cover of Simon & Garfunkel's song.
Sound of Silence
Who doesn't love this? Raise your hand and I'd kick you in the arse, lol! Per info, this awesome performance was recorded in an empty theater during the first pandemic lockdown. Unfortunately, the cover ended so soon that I wanted more. I thought it was intentional. It's like a teaser so we would check them further😅
Anyhow, the group described in their channel that they all have diverse musical backgrounds and love exploring new sounds through fingerpicking and combining them with their own style. They rearrange famous rock and pop songs.
They mentioned further that because they also share a passion for movies, they enjoy arranging and playing some of their favorite films and TV series soundtracks.(src) Speaking of which, here is one of their incredible arrangements and my second recommended tune for the day.
Pirates of the Caribbean
They make acoustic look so fun with their fingerpicking technique. By the way, the group members include acoustic guitarists Matteo Brenci, Emanuele Grafitti, Andrea Vittori, and Enrico Maria Milanesi (who replaced one of the original members, Marco Steffe in 2019).
They have done various covers of original songs from jazz to Latin music from established or well-known artists like Michael Jackson, Clapton, Eagles, and others.
Here comes my third recommended tune from the group...
Hey Jude
Their live performance made me fall in love again with the song when I had somewhat forgotten it.
While I feel a bit drowsy, I'm belting it out loudly (albeit it's only happening in my mind, lol). You could say they have become one of my favorite fingerpicking band that will remain on my playlist for a while.
Hope you enjoyed these as much as we did.
Cheers to a glorious day :)
