Ballet night [eng/spa]

One of Cuba's most recognized cultural attributes is the mastery achieved by the classical ballet dancers trained in our dance schools; so more than a form of artistic expression, for us it constitutes a tradition. That explains the joy I felt when I was given two invitations to go and enjoy the National Ballet of Cuba.
The show was held at the National Theater of Cuba, and for me every moment was fascinating because I had never visited that place, even though it was very close to my old work offices.

Una de los atributos culturales más reconocidos de Cuba es la maestría que alcanzan los bailarines de ballet clásico que son formados en nuestras escuelas de danza; así que más que una forma de expresión artística, para nosotros constituye una tradición. Eso explica la alegría que sentí cuando me regalaron dos invitaciones para ir a disfrutar del Ballet Nacional de Cuba.
El espectáculo se celebró en el Teatro Nacional de Cuba, y para mí cada momento resultó fascinante porque nunca había visitado ese lugar, a pesar de que estaba muy cercano de mis antiguas oficinas de trabajo.

The decoration of the theater is very unique, because on the walls of the entrance area hang somewhat surrealistic paintings of several Cuban artists of recognized prestige, made with the mixed technique canvas. This series of works is called Musical Visions, and I tell you that I spent some time observing each one carefully and guessing the name of each character.

La decoración del teatro es muy singular, porque en las paredes del área de entrada cuelgan cuadros un tanto surrealistas de varios artistas cubanos de reconocido prestigio, realizados con la técnica mixta lienzo. Esta serie de obras se llaman Visiones musicales, y les cuento que estuve algún tiempo observando cada una con detenimiento y adivinando el nombre de cada personaje.

Finally the performance began. The theater was in total silence, interrupted only by the most daring and majestic pirouettes of the dancers. The lights, the music, the costumes: everything was perfectly combined to suggest the idea that each artist had the gift of flight.

Finalmente comenzó la función. El teatro quedó en total silencio, interrumpido solamente ante las piruetas más arriesgadas y majestuosas de los bailarines. Las luces, la música, el vestuario: todo estaba perfectamente combinado para sugerir la idea de cada artista tenía el don de volar.
