No, Not talking about gravity. I am talking about the people, celebrities and projects, especially from the self-help communities. About a decade ago I was in a weird place. No goal, no direction or anything serious going in my life. All I had was a job that kept me busy and a hobby of watching movies. This was before the Hive and all. So you can imagine my life. I would be working most of the time sometimes 12 hours a day and at home I would just sit and watch MasterChef or some random stuff.
No life neither real nor social media.
My friend suggested to me a book about finance it was Rich Dad, Poor Dad. It was the first time in years that I finished a book otherwise most of them were just a couple of chapters and got shelved. That book triggered my hunger for learning, Although I didn't directly jump into all the techniques the book talked about. I started reading more about it and started checking YouTube videos. Back then Shorts weren't a thing and the world was a good place. Anyway, I watched a couple of videos and then I saw an interview with a very successful guy named Tai Lopez. (Yeah!! It's completely fine, Please go ahead and do a facepalm). The interview was on a channel called Impact Theory. And It was something different. The interview was about success, hardwork and how the mind works. Mind you, I was in the learning mode and new to all this motivation and stuff. I couldn't differentiate facts from bullshits. Years passed and I started following some more of such motivational people. Like GaryVee, Tim Robbins, Jay Shetty and a bunch of others. I learned that I am the average of the people I spend time with. With that in mind, I went in deep. I liked a few things, but had difficulty accepting a few, and some sounded straight-up voodoo stuff.
I mean how strong, powerful and inspiring the person is, who turned 47Buck into a garage full of luxury cars. Another one is running a business and earning millions and having time to chase his hobby of exploring new places. Another is just retired and looking for people to take over while he goes to the Himalayas. These are just a few stories that I watched on YT. Now, who wouldn't be inspired by such rag-to-riches stories? But lately, all I am hearing is that all those awesome stories were just stories. Robert Kiyosaki filed for bankruptcy, The guy who advised the world on the rental business has filed for bankruptcy. We all know the allegations against Tai Lopez, and the courses are reported to be bogus. JayShetty is dealing with allegations of plagiarism and most of the stuff is somebody else's and he is taking credit for it.
Most of the diamonds turned out to be just glass shards. And I also condemn them for using the audience this way. Selling useless overpriced courses isn't fair and must be dealt with accordingly. But amidst all this, I still find the video motivating me. I know the story was a fake one, and it has never happened. But still, it makes me want to get up and get to work. Don't get me wrong I am looking at the situation as even a stopped watch shows the correct time twice a day. I am going for the nugget of gold in all the crap. And my learning is not to idolise the artist but to appreciate Art.
I am inuke,
And just today only I realised that I am on Day 10 of daily posting. How awesome is that? Anyway, this is something that I want to talk about. I think its ok to pick what you are looking for from such frauds. Just avoid their traps that's all. How many fake gurus do you know? Please share in the comment sections.
And as always, hugs to IndiaUnited, Beawesome and thoughfuldailypost community .
