Yeah!!!
I am feeling so fulfilled and being happy with myself for so many reasons. I am a teacher by profession. This long vacation, I've promised myself to acquire more and also explore.
I am proud to be a woman, a skilled one at that in many vocations. Today, I will be talking about my experience with upskilling my hair-making skills and practicing with my sister.
Behold, my baby sister was planning for her birthday, she asked me what I will give to her as a gift and unconsciously I responded, I will give you a new look. Few days to her birthday, she asked again. At the moment, I wasn't financially buoyant, I had just five thousand. I sat back and think of what I will do.
Considering the present economy, the money on me was not enough to buy a reasonable dress nor make her hair. So, I went to the saloon, bought a pack of acrylic Brazilian wool at the cost of three thousand, five hundred naira.
Below is the picture of our instructor with a few young kids who attended the training too. I am happy to see that young kids can learn this life skill and some of them could make a career out of it in the future. I hope they will learn well and make efforts to practice what they learnt so that they can improve.
I have never been enrolled as an apprentice in a saloon, but I always like to sit, facing the mirror anytime I visit the saloon to make my hair, from there, I will learn something and once I return home, I will try it on my mannequin. Boom!!! it's time to fulfill my promise. I call on my sister and told her that it's time to make her look beautiful, but there was this surprise look on her face. I know she must have thought of so many things, she had no choice but to sit for me to make her hair.
I was surprised at what I saw my hands performing, even my neighbours were surprised too, at a point, one of them came to book me for another day to make her hair too and I have her my price. Wawoo, another source of income, right lol...
As a newbie, the hair took us a whole day. I plait till very late at night because I was inspired to create style with the hair in order to make my baby sister look beautiful.
Truly, this hair came out lovely and my sister was so happy that I choose the style. The hair came out this way and she looks so beautiful, she even went out with the hair without covering the hair out of shame. I just discovered another business line and source of income instead of monthly salary. I am super proud of myself. Trust me, family is more
Look at her and tell me how she looks. I am doing my best to better this skill so as to use for members of my household and for friends. I am not looking at making business out of the skill yet, may be in the future.
