The 7.2 earthquake of Loon, Bohol Philippines last October 15, 2013 was the most horrible experienced of a childhood memories. Imagine, I and my sister was living in my grandparents house with my great-great grandmother(grandmother of my father) who was almost hitted by the concreted wall behind her. If she was sleeping that time, she would be dead on time but God save her since, she was just waking up and sat down in the edge of her bamboo bed. The house of my grandparents was not yet finished and under construction but it fall down during that devastation. We were in our school that time. If it happened that we were at home, we loved playing with our great-grandmother, perhaps we would be hit by the wall. Thanks God, she was slightly had a bruises from the broken blocks. Imagine, she was not aware to depence herself because she was a blind old woman.
The unfinished house became unfinished and the government did not help them because they said that they have teacher daughter and one abroad. They never realized that they have their own family. My Aunt and Uncle were still studying that time. The government promise to help but the expectations remained a dream. My great grandma died in 2015 and her big house 2, kilometers away from us was also turned into ground zero. It was made up of old kind of wood materials at was a good house but she stayed with us because, she was alone at home and no faucet of water system there. She was a bedridden for a long time.
Today is her birthday and I remember her who truly loved me too. I was her favorite great-grandfather. She was a beautiful old fair comflexion old woman. Her father was a Spanish that's how and why she was so beautiful.
The center is my Nanay Lucia, mother of my grandfather.
If zo could turn back the time, we supposed to celebrate her birthday today together with the birthday of her husband whom we didn't see. He was died last 1991 during the birthday of my father.
