Splinterland Brawls are a guild event where you can earn merits and SPS. This post serves as a way for me to review how my fights went and as a reminder to sign up for the next brawl. I have missed brawls in the past and it hurts when Gladius cards can now be used in ranked battles using the soulbound summoners. Rebellion has also changed the battles and I keep losing my fights recently. 4 star brawls are rough as the teams tend to be stronger. I did just as well as last time but our guild got a worst result and our rewards dropped a lot compared to last time.
Brawl Result
I chose the gold foil modern Brawl and got 5 wins. There was 1 free win in this match because one guild didn't submit someone for a match. My rewards for the brawl were 3,667 merits and 49.388 SPS in the 4-star category. My guild ranked 6th place out of the 9 guilds there. I choose to take the gold foil modern brawl because my guild usually doesn't fill all their spots and I prefer to give my other guild members a chance at the brawls. My guild placed worse than last time and our points were about 80% of what we had last time. The decrease in rewards was probably more than 20% decrease though.
Brawl fights
There were 4 that I won and 4 that I lost. So I included an idea of what the match was below along with a few thoughts about it.
You can find the first match here. I lost this match. The combination of melee monsters and Tarsa was a bit too much for me. I couldn't deal much damage against that shield monster.
You can find the second match here. I won this match due to my bloodlust monster. That damage was too much for my opponent to overcome after it started to stack bloodlust.
You can find the third match here. I won this match due to my close range monsters. It let me continue to attack and I had a tank heal monster to keep my close range monsters alive.
You can find the fourth match here. I won this match because I reduced the magic damage and I had faster monsters. So I was able to kill off quite a few attackers before they started damaging me a lot.
You can find the fifth match here. I lost this match because my opponent just had the stronger lineup. There just wasn't much that I could do against him when he combined martyr with those monsters.
You can find the sixth match here. I lost this match because of all the magic monsters. My opponent just overran me with that when combined with his summoner.
You can find the seventh match here. I won this match due to the immunity monster because my opponent just slowly died due to poison. With that I was able to secure my win without too many issues.
You can find the eighth match here. I lost this match. My opponent just completely overran me with his bloodlust monster with the opportunity skill.
Conclusion
I think doing 8 fights for 3,667 merits and 49.388 SPS is a good reward for the effort. It's a bit disappointing to see my guild rank lower and we even had one more guild this week. I thought that the extra guild would allow us to earn more points but our guild performed worst. So I guess there just wasn't that much that I could do. Overall, I think that I did well in the matches as I won half of the matches where my opponent showed up though.
