Splinterland Brawls are a guild event where you can earn merits and SPS. This post serves as a way for me to review how my fights went and as a reminder to sign up for the next brawl. I have missed brawls in the past and it hurts when Gladius cards can now be used in ranked battles using the soulbound summoners. Rebellion has also changed the battles and I keep losing my fights recently. 4 star brawls are rough as the teams tend to be stronger. I am still in the gold league gold foil matches but at least this time around, I was able to win more than half of my fights.
Brawl Result
I chose the gold foil modern Brawl and got 5 wins. There were 2 free wins in this match because two guilds didn't submit someone for a match. My rewards for the brawl were 5,333 merits and 72.058 SPS in the 4-star category. My guild ranked 3rd place out of the 9 guilds there. I choose to take the gold foil modern brawl because my guild usually doesn't fill all their spots and I prefer to give my other guild members a chance at the brawls. It's rare to see us in 3rd place and I won't complain because the rewards are better. I think it's one of the better outliers.
Brawl fights
There were 6 that I lost. So I included an idea of what the match was below along with a few thoughts about it.
You can find the first match here. I lost this match. My opponent completely outplayed me with Lorna and the fast monsters. I couldn't kill anything and got destroyed.
You can find the second match here. I lost this match again. The speed difference was probably what got me in the end. The fast monsters and add in that repair monster and it reduced the damage that I could do.
You can find the third match here. I lost this match because of the weapons training magic monster. It destroyed my lineup without me being able to do much.
You can find the fourth match here. I lost this match because of that shield monster with retaliate. Using all melee monsters worked against me.
You can find the fifth match here. I won this match but it was close. I was lucky enough to have my bloodlust monster with opportunity stack enough to win the match.
You can find the sixth match here. I won this match because I cleansed the poison from the Noxious Fumes ruleset. My opponent had a lot of damage but he couldn't outlast me.
Conclusion
I think doing 8 fights for 5,333 merits and 72.058 SPS is a good reward for the effort. I did lose most of the matches where I did submit, but I didn't lose all of them like last week. Some of them were based on luck but the last match made me proud. I played according to the ruleset and won the match because of it.
