Splinterlands is a pretty complicated game with interesting battles with all the options available. This is a part of the weekly social media challenge for Splinterlands. This week is about a great fight where Clockwork Aide was a great tank and it increased the speed of my team.
Featured Card
Clockwork Aide is a neutral splinter that costs 4 mana. This card starts off with swiftness ability. It learns rust at level 4 and strengthen at level 6. I have this card at level 2 so it only has swiftness but I use it from time to time due to speed increase relative to the mana cost.
Rule set, Battle and Plan
The ruleset this time is Counterspell and Little League. This means that all monsters gain the magic reflect and only monsters with a mana cost of 4 or less can be used. There are 28 mana available and I am left with the choice of fire, earth, life, or death splinter.
Splinter | Mana Cost | Position | Reason |
---|---|---|---|
Tarsa | 4 | Summoner | +1 Health and melee attack |
Antoid Platoon | 4 | 1st | Shield |
Drybone Hobgoblin | 4 | 2nd | Reach and Immunity |
Gobalano Soldier | 3 | 3rd | Sneak and Ambush |
Venari Marksrat | 3 | 4th | Martyr |
Uraeus | 3 | 5th | Sneak |
Clockwork Aide | 4 | 6th | Swiftness |
Total Mana: | 25 |
I use Tarsa as my summoner because it gives +1 health and melee attack. I use Antoid Platoon as my tank because it has the shield. Then I have Drybone Hobgoblin because it is a reach monster. I have two sneak monsters with a martyr monster in the middle. My last monster is Clockwork Aide to tank any sneak damage and for the speed increase.
Round 1
At first glance, I think that I do have the advantage because I have the speed advantage due to clockwork and I can negate most of the sneak damage with my it as well. I have 4 melee monsters so I am taking advantage of my summoner while my opponent is using some magic monsters that will get reflected damage.
Round 3
I took out two monsters using my sneak monsters while my opponent barely removed my tank. I am almost done taking out my opponent's first tank as well, but my sneak monsters are the most helpful so far as they are taking out the damage from the backline.
Round 3
I lost another monster but my opponent is down to just 1 monster left. It could still be dangerous because the opponent's monster has the shield ability and it has high health due to scavenger. It will depend on whether or not I can dodge some attacks while dealing damage. Fortunately, my clockwork is still alive so it increases my chance of dodging attacks.
I ended up winning the match a few turns later because I dodged a few attacks.
Conclusion
The battle this time around went exactly like I expected. My focus on sneak monsters worked out as it took out my opponent's backline but I was a bit worried when I saw how much health my opponent's backup tank had. Clockwork did a great job in this fight as it tanked the sneak damage and it also increased the speed of my monsters until the end of the match. If I didn't dodge those 2 attacks, I don't know if I would have won in the end.
