Splinterlands Social Media Challenge: Pyrewatch's Life Leech won me the match in Noxious Fumes

Splinterlands is a pretty complicated game with interesting battles with all the options available. This is a part of the weekly social media challenge for Splinterlands. This week is about a great fight where Pyrewatch Devil's ability won the match for me by a slight margin.

Pyrewatch Devil is a fire splinter that costs 3 mana. It starts with life leech ability. It learns dispel at level 5 and oppress at level 7. I have this card at level 5 as a gold foil so it has dispel. However, my summoners are a bottleneck and I rarely get to use them with that ability.

Rule set, Battle and Plan

The ruleset this time is Going the Distance and Noxious Fumes. This means that only rangedmonsters can be used and all monsters start off poisoned. There are 14 mana available and I am left with the choice of just fire splinter.

Tarsa gives +1 health and melee damage but since we are only using ranged monsters, the melee damage isn't as useful. Molten Ash Golem is my tank with close range ability to deal some damage and it has decent health to tank hits. Then I have Pyrewatch Devil to deal damage and increase its health through life leech. It should stay alive a little longer even under the poison.

Round 1

round 1.png

At first glance, I think that this match can go either way. My opponent has decided to use the same tank and he does have more damage than me. However, I do have life leech and I think poison is going to make this fight rough for both of us. If any attacks miss, then the match could be over but otherwise, it's luck. This match will be decided when any of our tanks die so I will fast forward to that point.

Round 3

round 3.png
Two rounds later, my tank died but the poison will kick in to kill my opponent's tank. Based on this, I should win this match because neither of us can attack and poison will decide this winner. As my monster has 5 health and my opponent only has 4, I will win this match by just 1 health.

I ended up winning the match a few turns later like I expected. It was just 1 health away from a draw.

Conclusion

The battle this time around went exactly like I expected. Pyrewatch's life leech was an amazing ability that gave me the win in this Noxious Fumes fight. I won this match by just 1 health as we had similar strategies with a Molten Ash Golem tank. This is why I think that Life Leech is such a good ability in this ruleset as the poison damage adds up and that extra health could be the slight difference between winning or losing a match.

You can see my entire match here.

Life leech and scavenge are amazing abilities when it comes to Rulesets as this. Apparently the opponent did everything right, just didn't have that extra ability

Yea, both of those abilities are great as monsters die quite fast. The extra health lets the monsters survive longer.

I must say I rarely use this card, mainly since at even higher level it still has only 1 dmg

It has 2 damage at level 4 but it takes a while to get enough BCX for it.
