Splinterlands is a pretty complicated game and there are some interesting battles with all the options available. This is a part of the weekly social media challenge for Splinterlands. For this week, I chose a great battle where I took advantage of speed to win the match
Rule set, Battle and Plan
The ruleset this time is Back to the Basics. This means that monsters don't have any abilities. There are 25 mana available and I am left with the choice of fire, water, earth, or life splinter.
Splinter | Mana Cost | Position | Reason |
---|---|---|---|
Immortalis | 6 | Summoner | -1 Health, Void and Shatter |
Pelacor Mercenary | 7 | 1st | |
Chaos Agent | 1 | 2nd | |
Regal Peryton | 5 | 3rd | |
Supply Runner | 6 | 4th | |
Total Mana: | 25 |
I used Immortalis my summoner for -1 health debuff, void and shatter. My first monster is Pelacor Mercenary so it can tank some hits. It does have 1 armor but it's mainly for the high health and it also has decent speed. Then I have Chaos Agent as a filler monster. Then I have two more damage dealers with one being magic and the other being ranged damage. All of my monsters are relatively fast and Regal should go first so the shatter should line up the monsters for me. Also, my summoner will reduce magic damage and it's more likely for my opponents to use it due to the ruleset.
Round 1
At first glance, I think that I have the advantage in this fight. My opponent focused on magic monsters so I will faced reduced damage from him but the magic monsters will slowly deal damage to me. I am faster than my opponent so I am not worried about missing either.
Round 2
I took out one monster but my tank lost half of its health. That melee monster didn't even get a chance to attack me. I did deal quite a bit of damage though and my opponent doesn't have many high health monsters left. So I think that I still have my advantage.
Round 4
My opponent lost 2 monsters and I also lost 2 monsters. However, my opponent doesn't have any high health monsters left. So I will be killing monsters so long as I don't miss. Given the speed difference, I expect that this is my win.
I was able to win the match a few rounds later.
Conclusion
The battle this time around went exactly as I expected. Given the ruleset, I expected my opponent to use magic or ranged monsters because melee monsters can't attack unless they are in the first spot. Having my summoner reduce magic damage made it easier to survive and having fast monsters also got me the win without too many problems. I was a bit worried towards the start but it worked out and it's too bad that my opponent didn't use any monsters with armor.
