After an examination, I made it out of the hospital, and just right across the street was a nice restaurant called Lemon Tree Kitchen & Cafe. π
By the way, I do not like going to hospitals as it reminds me of things that are not much of my liking- blood, pointy things, white walls, and people in pain.π I need a good breakfast as a reward for getting through the hospital.
There are not many options around Capitol Medical Center. The little coffee shop inside the center will not satisfy my hunger, so this restaurant is a relief to my growling stomach. π
Walking into the restaurant, the security guard greeted me warmly. I forgot that I was wearing a face mask, so I smiled and nodded in return.
There were only two customers this early: an elder and a guy working on this laptop in the far corner.
I chose to sit on the couch with the wall on the back. Finally, I could relax and eat. The staff handed me the menu and was pleased to serve me a glass of water. ππ»π
A mix of Filipino and foreign dishes.
I chose the pork longganisa na hubad, which is just a pork sausage with no casing, and a refreshing strawberry lemonade juice to beat this heat. π₯΅
As I finished ordering, the staff advised me that it would take 20 minutes to cook the dish, which was okay on my end as I was looking to kill time while I waited for the examination results.
As I waited for my order, I had the time to dip my thoughts into the restaurantβs interior.
What I was getting here is a capri-Mediterranean style. Itβs like a place you can find while you are on an Italian getaway. π₯°
I just felt the space was well thought of from flooring to ceiling. Even the pieces of furniture were like picked from an Italian magazine. ππ»
Instantly I felt relaxed with the yellow tones of the walls- its warm and soothing soft glow. π
I glanced at the counter, I could not help but notice the mouthwatering muffins and cakes.
Ahh, every muffin and cake was topped with a generous amount of nuts and fruits.
It was tempting to order one but I already ordered a full breakfast.
The attending staff politely asked me if I would like to add one to my order, and I said I was just admiring these baked stuff, and I might considering getting one for takeaway. π
I settled in back in my seat patiently waiting for my order while listening to 80s music.
Not my genre of choice but itβs fitting to the vibe of the place. Maybe the music is for regular elderly customers- though not stereotyping, but just an observation. πβπ»
Finally, my order arrived just what I expected. The portion was bigger than I though, could be double the portion of what I usually eat.
The plate is just like a colorful canvas. The pork longganisa was perfectly fried generously topped with fried garlic, a side of salad, rice , and fried eggs.
Now time for my judgement!π€
I want to give my review first on the eggs. I always go for those crispy edges with almost burnt brown flakes.
I do not know exactly what they called but looks like a cloud egg but flat.
I got a soft egg, which the white in the middle was still translucent. My mistake was not requesting what I wanted. I was also left wondering if they forgot to put pepper and salt.
On to the star of the dish, the longganisa. It was just perfect paired with vinegar dip.
The salad on the other hand is just average. Not good and not bad, nothing special but a nice divert of a palate of cutting the sharp kick of garlic.
The highlight of the meal for me is the strawberry lemonade. ππA refreshing drink for the hot weather.
I can tell that it was made with real strawberries and lemon. The air conditioner was not keeping up and the lemonade was a relief.
A little buffer place for me to stay while I wait. The Capri-inspired interior gave me a relaxing ambiance despite the stress the hospital gave me. Over all, it was a nice experience- the food, staff, and the ambiance. 3.8/5 βοΈβοΈβοΈβοΈ
