A long walk around the mall made us hungry, and our feet were already hurting that needed a little break. ๐
We debated between Japanese or Chinese cuisine. I never cared whichever, I just wanted to sit.๐ Marugame Udon is just a few steps away, and so we opted for which restaurant was closer.
This menu was big and well-lit, making it easier for the customers to choose and read the names and prices.
Luckily for us, it was past lunchtime already and only a few customers were ahead of us in line.
At the line, I can smell the delicious food~ ๐ Ahhh my hunger just grew as we waited for our turn. ๐
Mainly, udon and tempura are their expertise, and so their noodles were handcrafted freshly as we can see from the kitchen while we wait.
The restaurantโs interior was clean and inviting. ๐๐ป The staff were wearing gloves and masks to ensure cleanliness and food safety. Nice!โจ
We told the staff what our orders were, easy peasy ordering, in fairness. The menu has a number per dish so it is easier if you cannot remember the name of the dish.
I wonder what were omusubi. At first glance, I thought these rice balls were called onigiri. Turned out that they were just the same, just different names in different regions.
Of course, I took the classic spam omusubi! ๐ Additionally, we opted for the tuna omusubi, salmon flakes omusubi, and karate mayo.
Even though wrapped in thin plastic, customers were required to use the thong to put the food on a small ceramic plate.
They all looked delicious!!! ๐๐ฎโ๐จ I want to pick one of everything, haha! ๐ The veggies looked like bathed in a golden batter, and fried to perfection. Yum! It would be a crunch fest inside your mouth. Ahh~
And then, we took another tray for the side dishes. Every side dish has its thong to avoid cross-contamination of food.
Ordering was a breeze. Some food needed some time in the kitchen, so they just clipped the orders for the meantime. Here were our initial orders, while we wait for the next batch.
Oh, hi! Itโs Deadpool on the can. ๐
These omusubis were for take-outs. ๐๐I was surprised that the brown bag has an extra charge of $0.60. Oh, inflation~ I should have brought a microwavable tub, haha. ๐
This was the first order that came. ๐คSadly, I am allergic to shrimp, so forever no tempura for me! ๐ Sad but I was so used to it. A nice portion for the price of , but for me, I might be super full for this portion. Maybe 3/4 rice was alright in my case.
Wow~ ๐ Who does not love the classic Japanese curry? ๐
I cook this dish at home using the brand Golden Curry. Easy to cook, honestly!๐ This serving was just right for one person. They got a side of pickled ginger too to cleanse the palate.
Veggie tempura and hotdog tempura. This is a self-serving restaurant, so everyone got their tempura sauces from the corner, at leas we had the choice to adjust the taste.
The veggie tempura was big, but looked small in the picture. Maybe a serving of two is okay.
My dipping sauce for my veggies tempura. In a small dipping sauce plate, I mixed in some green onions and sesame seed. Light and a hint of saltiness, perfect partner for the fried side dishes.
The hotdog tempura sa waaaaaayy salty! ๐ฅฒ It felt like it was soaked in a salt solution. I had to pass on that what. It was giving kidney stones. ๐ฅฒ
Ebi tempura for $1.50. Not bad for a decent size for one.
This was my order!๐ A bowl of guidon and egg. The portion is huge for me. I can probably share this bowl or take out the other half for lunch.
Frankly, I was weirded out with the meat itself. The taste was different and so was the smell.
I gave my friend a bite, and he also thought the same. I did not finish eating the bowl, instead, I took it out and hoped I could mend this dish at home.
I am not saying it was bad, perhaps it came differently in my taste buds.
As we munched down our food, we talked about the movie Deadpool and Wolverine. We could not stop laughing especially about the car fight scene.๐ It was hella funny! The air was filled with giggles and banters. The combination of good conversation and food made us happy and filled. ๐
