HELLO HIVE
- It's been a hell of a week for me as the rice harvest is now in full swing, the fields are alive with activity this is the heart of manual rice harvest- a labour-intensive activity steeped in tradition and powered by sheer human effort. Every day is now a test of endurance and dedication with this beautiful craft that has been passed on for ages.
Equipped with our sickle we bend low cutting every matured stalk and carefully setting each bundle aside to make work easier when it is time to beat the stalk to remove the rice from it in the traditional way.
This method is a lot slower than the mechanical method but it holds immense value. It ensures greater care, reducing damage to grains and ensuring minimal grain loss.
Backbreaking work and unpredictable weather conditions make manual harvesting a lot more challenging than mechanical harvesting, it is hard work but honest work and the more you can get more hands to join me in your field the easier and faster the work becomes for me.
It costs a lot to get labourers to work in rice fields because of how difficult the work is, but you can invite close friends and relatives that way it becomes a funfilled experience with good results at the end of the day, with some entertainment like a music player to keep the atmosphere cool.
