A Moment Of Pause & Rambling

in #hive-1776823 months ago

During one of my doctor's appointments, she asked me why I had not used a hospital in almost my entire adult life, despite my medical history and condition. I wanted to give her several legitimate and significant excuses, but I realized that my inactions were probably worse than the consequences of events beyond my control.

You see, I had these risk factors that I could have paid close attention to, but I secretly hoped that I would be spared. True, I was able to avoid many of the issues for which I had risk factors, but some of them were unavoidable, and they did occur to me.

I could have said that I did not have enough money today to afford quality medical care, which was true at first, but when I looked back at some of the things I had previously spent money on, I realized I had done myself a great disservice. Money was not an issue, but I realized it was not even necessary to have adequate awareness and knowledge.

I had access to knowledge, but I did not seek it.

The smoothness of lif can occasionally create a sense of balance.

Most of the time, only people who have been through numerous bumps in the road feel the need to protect themselves from future ones. Most people who have suffered numerous misfortunes are tired of being unlucky; sometimes it is simply being prepared for the unknown. People do not become negative overnight unless they have faced a lot of negativity.

We have a tendency to wait for events to unfold before preparing for the next one. It is not a deliberate act of irresponsibility; rather, it is simply human nature.

For example, when people have stable jobs, they do not believe they require insurance or savings. There are wealthy people who are afraid to open bank accounts because they do not want to be exposed; they want to avoid the prying eyes of KYC (Know Your Customer), and while this may appear to be a good thing to them, when unexpected events occur, their money is usually lost forever, undiscovered and unspent.

Although some people do have insurance and plan for unexpected events, they never use it throughout their lives.

There are people believe that only those with issues should make adequate preparation, such as a shock absorber, and this is correct. People with issues and risk factors should exercise caution, but this is not always the case. There are people who have overcome cancer but continue to smoke heavily, people who are struggling financially but continue to be financially irresponsible, and people who are fighting addictions but continue to consume substances that trigger their addictions.

Sometimes people just want to make excuses and be careless, and these actions can have consequences.

In my own case, I believe I have been irresponsible in a variety of ways, and the consequences have been dire; over the years, I have seen the consequences of these irresponsibilities manifest in my life. For someone who prides himself on being financially responsible, I have made numerous mistakes that would suggest the opposite. It is ironic that being careful often leads to carelessness, and people sometimes lose in an attempt to win it all.

So, unless you pause and carefully examine who you are, you will be unable to see who you are becoming. So I am mostly seeing this post as a note, and I hope you have found something meaningful in my rambles.

Reflecting on your experiences really shows how easy it is to neglect our health and priorities. I totally agree that we often only act when it's too late. It’s a wake-up call for sure. People have ended up dead for responding too late.

Yeah, neglect happens definitely. It's a thing that people do. Most people are lucky not to have severe consequences, while some people are not so lucky.. it's life..

Yes it's sad for those who are not so lucky. Some damages can not be repaired and that's life as you said brother. I wish you well everytime I see your awesome blogs man

It's always good to get checkups, but they take both time and money. So I generally end up skipping a lot of things unless they are necessary. It might not be the best for health but I think that is what a lot of people end up doing.

Well sometimes they're generally not necessary if everything seems to have a clean slate, I didn't and yet I still neglected them all the same.

Sometimes I don't understand why rich people want more and more money. They have it in bank accounts and are trying to make a lot more. Many times they don't even go anywhere, they just make money and make money. I ask when do they have time to live? What are they going to do with the money? Some give it to their children, not for education or other useful things. But they buy their children everything they can think of. Then the children don't know how hard it is to earn money, they don't know the value of money and they don't know how to work and take care of themselves. When their parents die, they spend the money and cannot work to earn a living. But some bhati people don't even have children and yet they keep accumulating wealth. Then they die and what? They've experienced nothing of their own and had nothing of life

What you've just explained here is that hard times makes people tough and soft times makes people hard. As for wealthy people, I think having more money is just a thing. The satisfaction is never there

I know the feeling, busy with work and never taking advantage of the health insurance benefits... Then when you most need them it's more expensive or you don't have them anymore. Things change as we age, health becomes a priority as you I know both know all too well. Reflection on the past I realize I took too much for granted. It is human nature not to act unless we have to, I agree with you there all the way my friend!

How have things been?

Over here, insurance companies are very shady and they're mostly hoping you never need them and even when you do the care they can provide isn't even much. However, it's really awful not to have one of these especially when you know you might need them. Overall I wasn't as healthy, so I know I'll need a lot of money for medical care but when it mattered the most,I didn't really prepare for it and it was a really terrible mistake.

How have things been?

Just doing all I can to stay in one position and not get worse, how about you?

About the same, not worse but not miraculously better either! lol

Insurance companies shouldn't be involved in healthcare. Their only goal is to make money, and in healthcare they will always be paying out so they do their best not to. Here in the US it has made the cost of healthcare skyrocket, had they never gotten involved it wouldn't have.

I believe that most people are not prepared to face adversity in their lives, even if they think they are. Many are completely unprepared, some think they are but when challenges come they prove not to be, and there are probably a few that are over-prepared and even them probably won't think of everything. I think for an average person neither extreme is very healthy, so probably a moderate preparation is enough. Again, there are cases where this won't be enough, and as you said, when you know you have certain risk factors, you'd better treat them seriously. I know that from my own experience as well.

In this case here, I guess experience is the best teacher, but life is wild, sometimes it hits you irrespective of your adequate preparations, I think when it's beyond our control as we've done the best we can, than we should find solace in that.
I do believe that in the grand scheme of things, we cannot be adequately prepared, but we can only try. In my case, I didn't and well I guess I had myself to blame
