The ad promised 1200 dollars a day to take care of a cat 24 hours a day. I happily accepted, with the whole mansion to myself. A dream!
I was naive.
The first night, the cat stared at me from the chest of drawers, without blinking. I didn't sleep a wink.
The next day, I found him sitting at the table, waiting for his meal like a diner.
The third night, I saw something that must have made me run away in terror. But I desperately needed that money.
The fourth night, the cat jumped on my face. I didn't have time to scream. It covered my mouth with its own and sucked...sucked...sucked...sucked.
Now it is I who watches from the dresser the cat that inhabits my body, sleeping peacefully after usurping my skin.
Locked in this furry body, I see it impersonating me. I try to scream, to warn someone, but I only emit a pitiful meow.
He laughs at my laughter and caresses me.
-Don't you know that cats have seven lives?
I should never have underestimated the power of those words.
