This is a game between two sides who have been in good form over the last couple of years. They are among the title contenders this season. So, a game between both sides will always go along with a surge of anticipation.
Before this game, Arsenal fans on the AFTV channel on YouTube and all over the internet were moaning about having to play this game "without Saka". The headlines were all about Arsenal having to play without their main players.
Well, the lineup was made public an hour before the game, and Saka was in there.
Are you surprised?
It's part of the game though. Mourinho did that a lot. A bunch of coaches use that as a mind game, and Arteta decided to do that for this particular game.
First Half;
The first half of the game started very poorly for Liverpool. Robertson went to bed in the 9th minute and got punished by Saka. That was the first goal of the game, and it serves as a reminder that Robertson hasn't been in his best form since this season.
Liverpool gave another quick equalizer.
I've watched Liverpool equalize goals a couple of times this season and they always get that done within 10 minutes from when they conceded a goal. That same thing happened in this game. The goal came from a corner kick which was delivered by Trent. VVD scored from a header through that opportunity.
Arsenal got another goal at the end of the first half to go ahead. It's a goal that came through a free kick and warranted the use of VAR to check for possible offside. The goal was awarded after the check putting Arsenal ahead before the halftime break.
Second Half;
Liverpool started the second half with more decency. They controlled a huge portion of the second half. However, their equalizing goal didn't come until the 80th minute of the game. It came from a well-timed assist which was delivered by Nunez and scored by Salah.
The game ended as a DRAW for Arsenal and Liverpool. They each got 1 point from this game.
What a game that was!
