It's been almost three years now since I joined hive, I can remember how desperate I was then to find a side job to support myself because of how bad my financial situation was then. I had this friend who was supposedly doing very well, and I asked her to help me with a job or side job that would earn me money. She agreed and asked what I could do. After a while of noticing my passion for writing she asked if I could help her write some articles for her clients while she pays me for the job. The pay wasn't so much, but I agreed because I needed it either way.
After sometime she decided to introduce me to hive seeing my passion for writing, but she didn't tell me much except that she just joined about three months ago and had withdrawn about $100 plus. This was all the motivation I needed to start my hive journey. After teaching me how to post, she left me to figure everything out by myself. I couldn't blame her because she was busy, and since I needed money so badly, I had to find ways to learn by myself. I must admit this part wasn't easy, especially the time I was massively downvoted for using hive fest tag on my post. I didn't know that there were rules guiding tags, I just used the tags I saw my onboarder use on her post and it cost me a lot.
At a point I must confess I got frustrated and wanted to quit, but somehow I managed to move on, I joined the hive learners community, and started to understand things little by little. This was like after 6 months on the blockchain with less than $20 to show for it. Later on I joined the newbies initiative program, which was an eye opener to what I needed to do on hive. But then, that period I had issues with my phone and even though I managed to use it for posting, I could not engage as I ought to. Looking back at all the struggles, I can say I have come a long way And I'm grateful for it all.
